What's New Thursday?
Two of the support group people were scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. Yesterday I went to visit them in the hospital. One never showed up as scheduled. Don't know what happened.
The other person was up and looking radiant. She was pleased with the piggy bank I took for her. It was my pleasure to take her for her first walk around the floor.
We went to high school together but lost contact over the years. It was fun to sit and talk about the "good old days" and the people we know/knew.
It is not in my job description as support group leader to visit the people. But, I try to see them the day after surgery just to say "hi" and let them know I understand how they are feeling.
Sometimes their families are there, looking rather stressed. When they find out that I had WLS and actually survived the whole ordeal, they seem comforted.
Today I am resuming the weekly lunch date with my friend. She offered to bring lunch here but I WANT OUT!!

So glad to hear that you will finally get your knees fixed,Eileen! Then we will have to make room for you on the track!

Last night I went out with friends. We went to the usual meat raffle we attend on Wednesdays.....I won three huge ribeye steaks!! Only cost me $2...what a deal!!
I only work 4 hours today and then I am on my 3 day weekend!!
I have so much to do...I haven't begun to get things ready for my weekend at the Cabin.
I pray everyone has a peaceful and blessed day!!
Love and hugs to all.....connie d
I have to take Bill's cousin to the physical therapist in a couple of hours. She has gained so much weight and she needs a new power chair. Both Bill and I wish that she would have something done but I told him that I think she is satisfied with where she is in her life. She is at about 400 pounds now I would estimate. She is in fact the one that clued me in on the band. We went together to a talk on it and for me it went from there. She never pursued it. I pray that she comes to the fact that something needs to be done but maybe God has other plans for her. Who am I to question.
The day is sunny and cooler here. I love the sun but could take a bit higher temps. I was talking to my girlfriend yesterday and I told her that I am going to get a electric blanket since I can't take the cold anymore. I use to love it cold but now it is to cold if it is in the 60's. How our life changes when we change. And how this surgery changes us in so many ways.
I am seeing a difference in Misty today. She is seeming a bit more active and happier. She is not being so needy with the affection either and so that makes me think that my Misty Kitty is getting back to normal. Or maybe I should say back to normal for her. She can be a strange one but I guess it is because she is a kitty.
I better get to moving. I have some things to do before getting Trudy for her appointment. I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are going up for everyone with special ones for those in need of them. Have a wonderful and sunshiny day!
Hello all...
As some of you know, I'm kinda new at this, so here goes my first attempt at the daily "what's new?"
Hubby and I joined the YMCA this week! I needed to find an exercise that I would look forward to doing... so I decided to give water aerobics a try! I think I'll really like it, I love being in a pool... so hopefully this will motivate me to "move!" The class starts next Tuesday, and I'll be going Tues/Thurs/Sat. In between days, I plan on riding the recumbent bike at home or going to the gym with my hubby. (Ya gotta start somewhere, right?)
Today is a cool, brisk day here in New England. Woke up to a temp in the middle 30's. High for today is mid 40's. Brrr... I think I need to move south! At least the sun is shining! Not drizzly like yesterday.
Tonight, I'm going to one of the two support group meetings that I attend. It's at a hospital other than the one I was banded at, but I've met so many nice people from the OH-Rhode Island forum that attend it, I started going too about 5 months ago. I post in the Rhode Island forum since that is where I had surgery, even though I live in Massachusetts. I know, it's all very confusing.... Providence, RI is about a 45 min drive from where I live so not too bad... and I really do benefit from attending.
It's another sloooooow day here at work. I hate that! I'd rather be busy, it makes the day pass by so much more quickly.
Well, have a wonderful Thursday all...
Vicky
Went to the medical center today to the coumadin clinic. Numbers ok. Have a respiratory infection, started with allergy attack due to inconsiderate fellow musician wearing perfume at performance and rehearsal. They just don't get it. Against the rules to wear scents of anykind due to numerous members having allergy problems. Can't get it to sink in. Any Hoo am on antibiotics and hope to be well before cruise leaves Sunday. Makes it difficult to get ready. All I want to do is sleep.
Hope everyone has a great Thursday.
The other thing that ticks me off is advertising inserts in the paper that stick perfume inside ... ruins my whole reading experience.
