Never going back to my primary care physician!

(((laura))) i am so sorry that you had a bad appointment with your pcp today!!! some nerve!!!! is this dr over weight?? maybe she is jealous??? i agree with you to find another dr!! maybe go to your OH state board and ask them about their pcp and if they are taking any new patients!!! time for a change!! best of luck!!! hope you got the knee talked about while there...

Sounds like it is time to find a new DR.  What a bedside manner.
I remember when I went to this GYN Dr.  I was having real low abdominal pain. He told me it was just because I was fat. And if I would lose weight, I would not have the pain. Well, a few years later I had a hysterectomy (different DR, a woman at that) and I have not had that pain anymore.
Plus I was still heavy set 7 years after the hysterectomy until I had my weight loss surgery. So, I don't think his theory was correct.
I always wanted to go tell him what an idiot he was.

You are doing good with your weight loss.  Don't let that one person destroy your excitement.

as to your knee, maybe some physical therapy would help because as you continue to lose weight, the knee might feel better.

Don't spend another minute thinking about this. It is time to look for a new doctor that accepts your insurance. BTW 20 pounds in a month is a really awesome start!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.  I'm going to let it go and find myself a new PCP soon.
For now all my appointments are followups with my surgeon and I'm just going to focus on my eating and exercising and forget about what happened today.

Hey Marcia... our surgery dates are 3 days apart!

I just went and saw a new (old) doctor on Monday due to a vary similar incident with my a Dr.  In fact, it went on for 2 years, and I finally had my fill (no pun intended).  The straw that broke the camel's back was that before my surgery, she said I could loose weight if I excerised and cut down my intake of food and then some inoppropriate comment about being in a concentration camp.  I walked out of there in pure shock and then made the decision to change. My insurance plan "readmitted"  the clinic I used to go to 2 years ago, and I went back to my  "old" doctor. The nurse gave me a big hug and said she had missed me.  Her and the doc were great support after my daughter passed.

You will feel so much better when you have switched to another doc.  I sure did!  Now I don't have to worry about rude comments when I go in and would hold back going in when I should have.

Exactly Leslie!  Me too!  I would change appointments because I knew she would say something or be critical if I a test was off or if I had gained weight.  As it was I started to refuse to get on the scale because I just didn't want to hear about it anymore. 

Yeah, I spent some time doing research today and I think I found a new doc... hopefully he's taking new patients.

      A great resource to ask is a pharmacist.  They know who the good doctors are and they deal with their staff. Then you find one in your plan and see if you hit it off.  I would start looking now and not wait until you really need one.  Best of luck...Ellen D
