Hi Evelyn,

It's so nice of  you to extend a welcome to me!

I was very interested in the VSG surgery before coming to my final decision.  The biggest deterrent was that my insurance didn't cover it, and I couldn't afford to be self pay.  I commend you on the success of your tool!

Have a great day!
Vicky

Hi - Vicky !  Glad to see you coming out of the shadows and joining us.  You will find the people on OFF are the most informative and supportive of all the forums...

I am 54 and when I turned 50, I thought *Wow what a great number*  then 51 came along and I thought - *that is a blah number*  I guess when I turn 60 I will be thinking it is a great number again - but who knows??  At any rate it is just numbers and I like where I am right now...

Which is in the western part of NC - with 2 girls, Amanda, 31 who has a wonderful son, Steele who is 7.  Amanda is an RN at the dialysis center.  Then there is Lori who is 29 and gave me my beautiful granddaughter, Mattie who is 19 months old.  I love them dearly.

I have been in the healthcare field for 24 years - retired from my paramedic job this past June after 22 years and I work as needed at a small local ER as an LPN.  I am taking some classes online to pursue my RN degree because I will probably be working for the next 8-10 years.

I wish you well in your weight loss journey and please post often so that we get to know you better....

BTW - I was born and raised in Memphis, TN and then moved to the Greenville, SC area when my husband of that time took a job.  Ever lived in those towns???  LOL

Have a good upcoming weekend.

Hi Sheila,

Glad to meet you!  I had to chuckle at your question "ever lived in those towns?"  And the answer is..... I have not!  However, I did live in Madison, TN for a short time while my dad was in the AF.  My younger brother (by 14 months) was born there before we moved to Peru, IN.

Are you in the mountains of NC?  I've visited Charlotte twice, and last summer we drove from Boston to Charlotte the long way...... down the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It was early October, and what a beautiful drive!!  I absolutely LOVED the area.  North Carolina would be our retirement destination of choice... IF we ever retire!

Take care,
Vicky

Good morning to you Vicky. I am most of the time always late~just ask my darling husband Bill and he will most certainly tell you the same thing. He is the one that is always ready an hour before we need to leave. Opposites do attract I guess.

I joined OH over a year ago and posted on the IN board. Then by chance I found OFF and this is by far my favorite place here. I feel total and unconditional love from all of my OFF family. There is no place I would rather be.

I am 54 (where does the time go~I was just in my 20's a few years ago) and I had my rny a year ago on the 8th. I have lost 105 pounds and love my new life and I have found someone else that I am totally in love with and that is the person that I always was but never got the chance to show. I wouldn't trade any of the experiences I have had.

I have been married to Bill (really it is Billy Joe) for 20 years this past June. We knew each other for a week when we got married. Every year on our anniversary we talk about how NO ONE thought it would last and here we are. We had 3 children but each one was a miscarriage. I do have 1 step son Shawn who is married to Carol. Bill and I are expecting our first grandbaby in April. We just can't wait and so I am going to be a Tutu (compliments of Maui Karen~Tutu is Hawaiian for Grandma). I chose Tutu so that each time my grandbaby calls me that my OFF family is part of our life. Bill and I have a cat named Misty who is our "baby". She is a special little thing and we love her so much. We are both very much dog people but she has brought us into the cat world. I always want to have a Jack Russell terrier and name him Jack. That was when he went to the vet they would call Jack Russell, since our last name is Russell.

Welcome to OFF and I am so glad that you decided to join and become one of us. We are glad to have you as part of our family.

A WEEK?!?!?  Oh my goodness!!!!  I guess you two just  KNEW it was right, didn't you?  That's incredible, and I'm so happy for you and Billy Joe (love that name!)

Thank you for your beautiful introduction, Brenda.

My dad's family is from Indiana.  He grew up in the Anderson area before leaving for the military.  My aunts still live there.  Where abouts are you?

I truly can't wait to find that "person" hiding inside myself as well.  I know she's in there.... I used to know her, too!  As years and pounds crept by, she just buried herself more and more deeply away.  It's time for "her" to come out of the shadows as well!

Have a great day!
Vicky

Vicky, I am in Portage which is right by Lake Michigan. We are a couple of miles from the beautiful shores of the lake. We have IN Dunes State Park right in Chesterton, the town that I was born and raised in. I moved here to Portage 28 years ago. I miss Chesterton but it is still my home. It is much bigger now than it was in the time that I grew up in it but still and all it is home. We are also by Gary, also known as the Murder Capital. We are about 30-45 minutes away from Chicago too.
