Your description says weight loss in you 50's, I am in my 50's but had my RNY at the age of 49. Just in case I am in the right spot I will introduce myself. I hope it is not to long.

Hello I am new to this site after having surgery 3 years ago, well almost 3. I do not have a group to go to like I did in Colorado or Utah so a girl at Walmart recommended this site. My husband is retired military and he now works for the Federal Government in the mining department. So we moved 13 places during his time in the Army and now with this job we are now living in our third state.  I now live in Porterville,CA.

I work in the medical field and am hoping to get hired in medical claims for a big company
30 miles from where we live. I am the mother of 1 girl and 2 boys, all followed in Dad's footstep and went in the Army. My oldest is 25 and he is about to become a CWO in aviation, my daughter is 22 and a nurse in the Army and is in Iraq right now and my youngest is 19 and a MP stationed at Fort Bragg; he will be going over in 2009 to Iraq.

I had a RNY at the age of 49 and my top weight was
342 lbs. I am now saving up to have my body lift done. I have had my breast reconstruction as I am a survivor of Breast Cancer a year ago.

Well that is all for now I will write more later on after I get this all figured out.

My name is Orifiel but my friends call me Angel which is my middle name.

You are at the right place.

My name is George.  I am one of a few men that post here to try and give the male perspective on things.  The gals here are a nice bunch.  This board has no drama and we like it that way.

Thank your husband for his service to this great country of ours.  I myself am retired Air Force.  I know what you are saying about moving.  In my 20 years in the Air Force, I averaged moving every 18 months.

Hope you will hang around here.

There is a daily "What's new?" thread here, that is started any time after midnight, by anyone who wants.  There we tell of what we did yesterday and what we intend to do today.  It's like talking over you backyard fence to your neighbor.  Feel free to participate.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

W E L C O M E   ANGEL......  We have a lot of angels here... well, I think they are.  We are a great group.  Low key and very supportive and loving.  We take life as it comes and are here to support each other.

I too was a military wife and have a son currently in Iraq.  One son is now out of the military and one never did enlist.

Take Care and keep posting....  Millie

welcome a-board

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Welcome to OFF!

This is a great place to come and share yourself.  I have a friend who grew up in Porterville.  Her dad was Chief of Police there for many years as I understand it.  My sister is a Breast Cancer survivor like yourself.  My hubby is Navy retired.  My son was Army.

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you as you post!

Hi and welcome.  I am more of a lurker than a poster, but I am here everyday and really enjoy the site.  (I haven't had surgery yet, so I will probably post more then.)
I am a breast cancer survivor, too  -  almost 4 and a half  years out from diagnosis.  Thankfully, breast cancer research has been a real blessing for us and the women who will be diagnosed with this disease.
Glad to see you here.  Enjoy the great people who come to this site.

Welcome Angel,  My dad was career army so I spent my formative years traveling.  Not a bad way to grow up but I've lived on the central coast of CA for over 40 years now.
Just had my RNY, work for the local fire dept and spend most free time repairing/remodeling the cabin in the woods, seeking out good danceable live music or watching movies, gardening, reading and loving life.  Looking forward to getting to know you.  Carmel Valley Linda

Welcome to OFF, Angel, you are most certainly in the right place. We just love when new folks come and join our happy little family here. Please post often so we can get to know you and you can us. We gather in the morning a lot and talk about yesterday and today. Sometimes even tomorrow. Heck, if truth be known we just like to talk. So make sure the chair you pull up is comfy and get your cuppa whatever and join us.

Welcome to the "family" and know that you are part of us now.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
