Morning George and all,

I got some really great sleep last night....feel so much better today.  George, hope you can catch up on yours.

I crochet mostly, learned as a teenager but  having been trying to learn to knit for the past year but struggling with it.  Margo showed me this knitting wheel thing in Frankenmuth called "Knifty Knitter" and it works great.  I am starting my 3rd hat this week, last night bought some books to make other knit items on the rectangular frames.

Sami just got here and wants to help clean, she has the little shark vacuum going in the office here so guess, I'll quit posting for now as I can't hear myself think.

Have a great day, Paulette

Good morning, George and my OFF family. I am here earlier this morning than I was yesterday and so I must be doing something right.

Nothing much planned for today. Just another day in the neighborhood. I am planning on staying home today but we shall see. I know that when I plan things I usually get messed up somewhere along the line.

Misty seems to be doing better. There was no messes yesterday. I don't know if she is drinking much so we put her water in her little dish that she loves. At least that way we can keep track of what she is doing. I know that she is eating since I seen her doing it yesterday. She is napping a lot on the back of the recliner. She stays warm there I think. It is by the vent and the heat is blowing in that direction. She is so loving again and getting back to normal. I personally think that flea dip that she got the other day is what messed her up. I told that to Bill yesterday and he agreed with me. If anything she is craving more love and affection than normal. Oh the trials of having a "child" who is acting strange.

I got a call yesterday from the church organist and she is resigning at the end of the year. In fact I think they both are. Anna is the one that plays the 2 Sunday's of the month and Mildred plays the first 2. Mildred is going to be 91 in a few months and plays for us when we are in need of one. I have made the decision that I am NOT going to go through the hiring of another one. It was a mess the last time it happened and organists are few and far between now a days. I am going to talk to Pastor about buying the Methodist hymnal on CD's and using them. In the end it is going to save us money since we aren't going to have to pay for the organist. If it isn't one thing it is another. Sometimes I just want to slap everyone and tell them to just grow up and do what I want for them to do. ha ha Fat chance on that happening in my lifetime with anyone!

I guess I had better get to moving. I am going to do some things around here and then the rest of the day is all MINE!!! I just love days like this since they are so few and far between. Have a wonderful day and know that I am sending love and hugs to all along with my prayers. Special prayers are going up for those in need of them.

Brenda,

After reading about Misty and the flea dip, I just had a big DUH.Instead of using a traumatic dip, why don't you get the med that you squeeze a little drop on her shoulder blade?

It is a once a month treatment for about 4 months. Easy to administer, no trauma, and keeps the fleas away for a loooong time. Get it from your Vet.

Even Annie doesn't have fits when we do her. When Annie gets upset, she pees on the phones - the brat!!! Doesn't happen with the drops.

Just a thought.

Kisses

Annette, I thought that same thing. The groomer dipped her and then told us she did when she called to tell us she was done. She is traumatized I have no doubt. God only knows what that terrible stuff did to the poor baby. I know that she peed on the bathroom floor yesterday right in front of the bathtub and that just isn't her. She seems to be afraid~I guess that is the best word that I can describe her with. She is getting better but just needs to be babied and touched all the time. She is most definetly different. She is getting better though. I mentioned the drops to Bill. I don't know if I should put them on her now since she had the dip. Should I or should I wait a bit longer? I am lost with cats. If she was a dog I would know just what to do and what is wrong. Cats sure are not little dogs~not by a longshot!!

Brenda,

I believe something in the dipping process disorients them.  Though I had this experience with rescue dogs and not cats, I would think it's probably the same thing. . .  poor baby. . .  just give her some extra loving. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Good Morning George & Friends,
It's cold and windy and raining here this morning - yuck. I have to go to a meeting this afternoon at the museum and get the mail after wards... I'll be scurrying along to get out the weather as quick as I can manage .
The chili is nothing special. Just the usual ingredients - seem everyones' is different in the amounts ... I used 1lb ground turkey & 1 lb extra lean ground beef with lots of different beans ( 6 cans) and of course - onions, green & red & jalapeno peppers, celery and hot chili powder,  2 cans each diced and  pureed tomatoes, a  small can of tomato paste and stir it all up with a heaping helping of love, a splash of cumin, a splash of salt & let it simmer for the afternoon and - AMBROSIA !
I'm serving leftovers tonight... maybe with a side of cornbread oatmeal muffins.
The dog is scratching herself incessantly so I guess I'd best go give her a bath and get some other things done around here.
I'll check in with you all again later...

Hi Joyce:
Your Chili sounds wonderful.....I use ground turkey too, but not the ground beef....trouble is when I make it, I have to eat it for days and days....usually end up freezing some for later.

Well I have good news and bad news.....
The good news is my DS got approval for the variance to build his pole building, so now 30 days later he can finally get it going before "snow" flies.  It was a "good thing" because the variance committee have had
so many problems with this same kind of building problem, they are amending the regulation to bring it up-to-date....is was very old.

The other good news is my Vit. D level is up, but not quite where it should be, so I will continue on Vit. D until notified.

Now for the bad and ugly news.....the van is going to another repair shop Thurs. morning to see if I actually have a problem with the intake manifold gasket.....both this new shop and the dealership have told me it is a problem with the Pontiac Montana vans....then my son tells me last nite they had the same problem with their Montana to the tune of $700.  Dang, there goes the money I was hoping to use for some new dentures!!  Oh well, I guess the toothies will have to wait.   Maybe I could trade the van in for a horse and buggy --

I am writing this at work, so better get off and get back to what I am supposed to be doing...

The "S" word is in the weather forecast for Monday -- yuk!

Hi Everyone,
Haven't been around here much, been very busy with work.
I leave today for Madison again for 2 more days of contract negotiations. It is hard work and mentally stressful. We only have one more wk after this and our contract expires..Oct 31st. I don't see us wrapping this up in 4 sessions. We'll probably be striking. Since I have my surgery date, I need to get time off from work so I think I'll send in my request this wk to get locked into receiving my sick/vacation time while I'm off cuz if we're still striking in Dec I want to make sure I get my benefits I earned. I think I remember someone on this forum saying that it is illegal for your employer to ask what kind of surgery. I'm going to just say surgery and take it from there. If anyone has any insight on this subject please let me know. Have a great day All and I'll be back in touch over the w/e.

Hi George and my OFF family:

I didn't sleeep enough either ... got to sleep sometime after 3 a.m. and had to get up early for an appointment at the pain clinic; I was hoping to get some trigger point injections, but he didn't do anything for me (pain doc's PA) other than talk about my painful spots on my back and hip and knees, my upcoming knee surgery. So I had only about 4 1/2 hours of sleep, and not very restful either. I was thinking too much about my surgery and the cat ... found another pile of kitty poop on the bottom of the cat tower. I'm not real sure it's Diva, but I think so, because she's the only one I've ever seen go outside the box. So the appointment is still for Monday, although I will switch foods just to see if that makes a difference. If I have a vet visit, it's $40 at least and probably more, and I really can't afford it. I will have to put off some bill I was going to pay.

It's really cold here today. It was 30 when I got up ... so with a hard frost, we will get really a lot of color in the trees. Most are changing anyway, but now all will change and drop their leaves. I pulled out my winter coat and gloves this morning. Being so cold in the car and so sleepy made my eyes a little droopy on the way home ... not good! I hope I can get in a nap this afternoon before work.

Joyce, I've added cinnamon and cocoa powder to my chili and it's really good. I found that in a recipe that came with my pasta pots (you know, the ones that you can drain the pasta with the lids). I would never have thought of using cinnamon and cocoa powder in chili, but after I tried it, it was so good. I've also added beer to my chili in the past.

George, if you go to Josh Hamilton's book signing, pick one up for me and tell me how much it cost. I would love to get an autographed copy.

Well, I guess that's all. I'm going to search "kitty pooping outside the box" and see what I come up with. Annette, any ideas?

Have a good day.
