OT...The Law Of The Garbage Truck

A friend if mine, Darla, on the MN board posted this and said I could share it with all of you.....here goes......

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.  We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really very friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so... Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a blessed, garbage-free day!

 Connie,

Thanks for sharing.....  I believe this ......  I learned long ago that others have Issues going on that have nothing to do with me.  I try to keep my issues where they belong ... to myself....  Also, a simple smile can help brighten others day....   again....  thanks.   Millie

I like that.  I also have a theory of my own.  If it already happened, it's done.  Nothing you can do about it.

Mary and I have been married 34 years and have not had an arguement.  I refuse to.  Most arguements are about something that happened.  If it already happened, there is nothing I can do to change it.  So why get upset about it.  I started that a long time ago.  We had been married about 2 months.  It was when the Charlie perfume line had first come out.  Mary went and spent $75 on makeup and perfume.  This was when my paycheck every two weeks was about $300, so it was a good chunk of our money.  She came to my work and told me.  One of the guys made a comment when she walked away because I did not get ticked.  I asked him, "What good would it do?"  It's done, it's in the past.  That's been good for my blood pressure too.

That's good, George.

I have a lady who is all upset because another lady got mad and quit coming to church.  Personally I think it hasn't hurt the church and has taken alot of stress out of meetings.  But anyway, I will keep all of both your posts in mind when she comes in to talk to me either Thursday or Friday.  i have to make an appointment or folks will come in and stay all morning.

You guys are great at keeping me in perspective.

Thanks,

Jeane

Three brothers.  One passed away in 1992 from a brain tumor.  I actually contribute alcoholism as a big factor.  One brother running from the law.  And one brother on his second divorce.  Sorry.

I cannot subscribe to your attitude. If someone robs you, rapes or kills your loved ones you must do something. If a drunken person in a position of authority unjustly embarrasses you and insults the whole organisation you must do something.

Just because it is done and in the past does not mean you should forget it. They will just do it again and worse next time.

You have a right to disagree.  But it still does not change my mind.

The court system will take care of those that break the law.  And I have had a loved one raped.  It is not a pleasant experience.  There is nothing I can do to change that.  It happened.  I can help see that it doesn't happen again, but I can't change the past.

As far as embarassing me, sorry, doesn't happen.  I consider the source and walk away.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Connie, thanks for sharing.  What a wonderful way to look at a negative situation.
