Hi Candy and my OFF family:

Good to see you and Marti and Aime back posting. We've missed you.

Not much going on here. Watched the baseball game last night after making muffins ... lots of knee pain after standing for so long, had to take a vicodin earlier than I wanted to. Talked to Brenda while I was watching the ballgame. Now I'm talking to my friend Margie in South Dakota ... was going to call her last night when Brenda called so then I owed Margie a call. She's also decluttering ... that's how she found out all her husband's secrets. Not fun for her.

It's overcast here ... don't know if it's going to rain or not. Sure feels like it, though, because my body's hurting. Hope it passes by.

Well, I should sign off because I'm trying to talk and write and I'm not that intelligent to do two things at the same time.

Good Morning,

It's nice to see you all up and texting I have enjoyed reading all the posts and just thought I'd jump in and say hello!  I'm on day 4 of 24 days of my food portion of my pre-op diet then I'll start my 2 weeks liquid diet OBOY! It has been hard to eat 900-1000 cals a day.  If I could live like this I wouldn't need the surgery, LOL You all have a great day!

Hello all,

What's new.....well, it's not new but it is something I have not really done since Thursday, that is my nice long walk.  I was glad to get it in this afternoon.

I have a missions meeting tonight at church but otherwise will be doing laundry, and watching TV.

Hope everyone has a good day and welcome, welcome RaeAnn!

RaeAnn,

Welcome to our corner of the universe.  Here you will find people who will offer their support as you progress through the various stages of WLS, the before and the after and the friendships you will make here are really a bonus of this journey.

Wishing you a healthy and exciting journey towards healthy living, Laureen

Hi RaeAnn ... it's tough but your body will adjust (you may be crabby for awhile but you will adjust to less food and eventually you won't mind ... your coworkers might not like you!)

Yeah, I say that a lot ... if I could live like that, I wouldn't have needed the surgery ... in fact, I said it today talking to a friend ... if only I could have learned portion control! Well, I've learned it now, better late than never!

Welcome to OFF!

Hi RaeAnn, Isn't that the truth about the pre-op diet? Thank goodness Dr. Lauter didn't require me to lose. I think he realized that I had just totally given up on ever being able to lose on my own. You go girl. The more you get used to it now the easier it will be for you. I'm glad to see you posting!

Hi Candy and all

It has been so long since I have lurked or posted.  My internet has been so unreliable that it's been more frustrating than I care to deal with.  I finally discovered AT&T's connect card.  Its not cheap but it seems to be working.  I got the doohicky and they helped me intall the software a few minutes ago.  i am now sitting in Fuddruckers eating a nice grilled chicken napa salad and posting.   My laptop will probably become a permanent fixture attached to my hip.  I can also use it in my recliner.  A plus since I can't sit for very long in a straight chair with my blood clot.

Had a busy weekend.  Lots of activities that were postponed due to hurrican Ike got rescheduled for the same week-end.  Friday night my DH and I went to a square dance.  He had never done this before and I had a 2 week stint in PE class back in High School over 40 years ago.  We had a good time.  Sat. morning I had a 3 hour rehearsal for our Chorale performance Sat night.  It was the first and only time we had to rehearse with the orchestra.  This is the 20th anniversary of the Chorale and we repeated the frist performance in memory of the founding director.  His daughter was there and sang the solos for the Rutter piece.  We performed Vivaldi's Gloria and Rutter's Requiem.  It was awesome.  After the concert we got together for a late supper since you don't eat before singing a major concert.  Sunday Morning our church service was a musical service in honor of our Associate music director who was retiring.  She is a fabulous pianist and a gracious and awesome lady.  She performed many works both old and new and the choir sang an anthem in her honor.  After the service we had a luncheon in her honor.    Sunday evening we had a group of young adults give a concert of Chamber music and they were quite good.  With all this music going through my head I had a hard time getting to sleep.  It was 4:00am before I got to sleep.  Dh leaves at 6:30 so I was up a few minutes to say good morning and good bye and went back to bed.  I was up for the day at 9:00.  Took me a couple of hours to get my arthritic joints moving but I am about as good as I get now.

Sunday DH and I will be leaving for a 7 day western carribean cruise.  It the only cruise that goes out of here.  The port in Galveston is closed due to Ike but the ship just moved over the the port in Baytown.    I plan on having a good time with some fun and some relaxation.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Linda:

Good to see you posting. I had worried about all you folks down that way after the hurricane and how things were going for you. I'm glad you're still there even though connections aren't great yet. My brother said he saw some of the area we stayed at in Galveston on the news ... the Joe's Crab Shack sign was right next to our hotel and it was smashed in ... so we figure our hotel is gone or fairly ruined. So sad that so much of Galveston is destroyed or won't be the same again. I hope your area is OK and your home is all right. Take care of yourself and enjoy your cruise.
