Sandy,

The OFF family has helped me retain my sanity during this journey. They understand and are non-judgemental.

You will find that we each have different experiences and can learn from each other. This is a good place to come for support.

I wish you well.

Good morning all,

Took my Boniva this morning, showered  and still have about a half hour left before I can get going on the rest of the morning routine ( meds & coffee).

Margo, I made a hat for Sami yesterday on my Knifty Knitter........it is so cute, her favorite color, pink, although it is a pink verigated yarn with a little orange & purple  too. She loves it  as it matches her cast. Now I have to start Cheyanne's.  Thank you so much for showing me how to do this in Frankenmuth.  It is proving to be very relaxing.  I took some time away from all the busyness at Jens to just sit for the last two nights and was able to start & finish the hat.

Today our neighbor is finishing up the tuckpointing on the brick at Jens(DD)...so that will take care of the side where water came in over the foundation. We hired a friends son to dig out a trench around that side of the house to put drain tile in...so when it's done no more water should come in there.  She got assistance from FEMA so she will be able to get the floors finished in the house...Earl & I both need a vacation, somewhere warm and calm.

I hope everyone has a blessed day. Paulette

the hat that i showed you is going to be a part of alaina's frst bday gift-i started a scarf on the short rectangular loom yesterday- it's cute but i am not sure that i have the savvy with crochet hook to get it off the loom! will need to knit about two more feet before i have to worrry! will use the darker purple yarn for fringe to tie the two pieces together!

glad that you are enjoying your new found craft--it is simple and it feels good when you get done!!!

oh- and i finished the hat that you practised on!!! my mother will never know unless i tell her!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

we had a relaxing day yesterday til chico got sick again last nite-- made a fast drive to an emergency vet to pick up meds that the other vet called in...he is losing weight and he was hurling again today--made quite a lot of sounds during the nite but not teh death cry of last week....very very disconcerting

as i said in my reply to paulette; i started a scarf for aliana- it is  a new technique for me and challenging-shouldn't be-i really am so frustrated by how i have developed these "creative blocks" or inability to read directions or do simple tasks-i've been knitting since i was 9 years old for cripes' sake! but it's getting teh scarf done so it works!

today is our 6th wedding anniversary...we had a beautiful garden wedding on sweetest day in 2002 with family and a few friends....

hugs and prayers to all.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Happy anniversary, Margo ... I thought about calling you but you two "lovebirds" need some good alone time, I think, so I won't bother you. Hope you have a lovely day together. Hope Chico (I always start typing Chicago for some reason) will be better so you don't have to worry about your "baby" tonight.

Good Morning

I cooked all day yesterday, and the freezer is half full for the next few months.  I made a big batch of the  "Emeril" soup that someone posted a few months ago...Butternut Squash with Sausage and Wild Rice.  I made it twice before, and loved it.  I've now tweaked the recipe a tiny bit, as I almost always do with new recipes, and ended up with about 6 quarts of the stuff.  I started from scratch, with fresh squash from a friend's garden, and made the chicken broth base from two whole chickens.  I ended up with enough broth and chicken to make 8 quarts of chicken and wild rice soup.  Everything is frozen into meal sized containers, and I FINALLY finished the dishes!  Next weekend I do chili, and the freezer should be full.  First I have to buy some more 1-2 cup containers for the freezer.  I used most of them up yesterday.

Today I'll put up at least some of the winter drapes, and this afternoon I go to the local college for a live Charlie Parker tribute.  Should be really good.  Tonight I crash, and try to fall asleep by 8-9 pm, as I start my 4:30 am shift tomorrow, for the next week.  I'll be sleep deprived all week, but I can do anything for a week.  Someone remind me of that in a few days, OK???

Everyone have a good day.

Candy

Hi Janet and all,
I am on my way to work from 11 to 5. I am so glad to be home from Chicago and a hectic week I had last week.
I was also wondering if Aime got the card we got for her. I mailed it from the hotel at Frankenmuth.
It is cold this morning and probably wont be any higher than 75 today.
Nothing else new.

ALoha OFF family...

Janet...it is SO GOOD to see you starting the thread! And in red, too! Great way to start the day!

I'm happily sitting at my desk looking at the shimmering ocean hoping to see a humpback whale breach, but knowing it's still way too early. Maybe in a couple months I'll be shouting "Whales!!"

I'm sipping on a banana protein shake with an added banana, some benefiber, and ice cubes blended into a yummy breakfast. Yesterday I ate WAY too much....and this morning I actually weighed 160 lbs!! I haven't seen 160 for months. Although I know I NEED to gain some weight, it's a little disconcerting to see that number on the scale again. But when I look back over my day yesterday, it's no wonder I gained. I basically snacked all day and then went out to dinner last night with friends and had prime rib, cornbread, roasted potatoes, cole slaw.....and I ate A LOT of it! I was a little afraid I might get sick from eating so much, but I didn't!! Then I came home and had a slow churned rocky road ice cream bar, AND a dark chocolate protein bar! Some monster took over my body yesterday and wanted food, food, and more food! I hope this isn't a trend. I think I'm going to focus on protein today.....sigh.

Annette.....I felt your frustration with your conversation with your daughter. I don't have daughters (unfortunately), but my two neighbors give me much the same clap trap constantly! "You are too thin!" "You look ill!" Blah Blah. I really think they believe that I'm throwing up all the time because they see me eat and know that I'm not starving myself by any stretch of the imagination. What I think is that my surgery made it so that most of what I eat passes though so quickly it doesn't have time to attach as fat. If that is what is happening, I could NOT be happier!

Yesterday I tested "my" babies at the hospital, and there were only six for a change. I've had as many as 13 and only once had only 3. So there's a baby boom on Maui....these were the babies born Saturday night only!! One mother had a baby girl and when I went to get her, the mom said "I have four sons, and FINALLY got my baby girl!" I don't dare tell my DIL this story because they have three little boys, and I think have decided to quit trying. If she heard this story, I think she'd have my son in the bedroom working on number 4 RIGHT NOW! LOL

I've been researching panniculectomy the past few days. So many different experiences people have had. I'll be having mine on Dec. 3rd and my only worry is getting home from Honolulu by myself...doing the airport thing.....but I know it will work out. Things always do.

OK, my friends.....it's time to read the Sunday paper, and then get out into the sunshine and enjoy the day. I hope you all have a great Sunday, and that something magic happens for you today.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
