Getting alittle frustrated......ok, alot....
authorization to my clinic. The person I spoke with at bcbs states that my clinic has been notified on 10/01 that I was approved for surgery. I spoke with the surgery clinic's secretary today and she said that she still has not heard anything from bcbs. Apparently bcbs approved that my surgery take place on 11/19-11/21 but she said if my surgeon doesn't agree with those dates, he has to call bcbs right away so they can make the necessary changes. I feel like I'm getting the run-around. I called my surgery clinic secretary and got voicemail. I left her a message with the approval # and asked her to get in touch with me asap. ANY SUGGESTIONS??????
I work tomorrow too but I can phone her again on my break to check on any progress.
Bcbs cannot understand why the clinic secretary is stating that they have not heard anything about my approval yet. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN DO MEANWHILE??????
Thanks,
Alice

This secretary that I've been speaking with is the one who schedules the surgery after the surgeon ok's. But...she is leaving her job..Friday was her last day so I need to contact another person on Monday. I'm going to try bcbs again..if they are answering today..and implore them to fax the info. That secretary said she spoke with them yesterday and they said they would fax the info right away but didn't. Doesn't this sound crazy?? If I did my job like this I would be long gone.
3 weeks have been wasted since my approval...
Thanks for responding.

Oh, that;s tough So, schedule the surgery whenever you can. Surely they can work around that?
My insurance just wanted to hear that my band surgery was taking place 1t least 1-2 weeks after band surgery, and that my band surgergy was cleaer of complications. After that,I was good to go.

I am ready. I lost almost 40# since April on my own. I've been tempted to eat pizza and other comfort foods but I told myself that this is a new lifestyle that is more important than eating comfort food.
Thanks for replying Jean.

Thanks for responding....it gets worse. I reached the bariatric secretary (after a day of phone tag) I gave her my authorization/approval # that bcbs gave me, and she said she needs it in writing. I told her bcbs said they have nothing to fax her. She said she spoke with bcbs and they were going to fax right over my approval....she said she waited and nothing came. Also, while speaking to the secretary she said that she was leaving this position, this was her last day. I'd have to contact someone new on Monday. I'm going to call bcbs today with hopes that someone is there. I need some straight answers. Both sides are getting my feathers ruffled. My nut is leaving also...wonder what is happening in that department.
I personally think it is my clinic that is stalling till they are ready to take me.
