I asked this on another board but thought maybe I would get some different thoughts from this one. I am pre op . I haven't had a period since Feb so I haven't hit the twelve months yet and everyone seems to start their period in the hospital no matter when their last one was. I wonder has anyone else been seven monthhs out and started their period with the surgery? Its amazing what you worry about pre op. I hope I won't have to deal with it . I was hoping I was done with it for good this time.

Hi Susie,

I had been on and off with my periods for about 8 months prior to my surgery and I didn't have a period in January, February of this year.  I had my surgery this March - and still haven't had a period!  I hope you make it the whole 12 months!  I am 9 months without one now...almost 10!  YAY!

I'm 52yo, hadnt had a period in 2 years then bam! started the day after surgery and have had 1 small one since. I thought for sure I was in menopause, and most likely still am, but I was totally surprised at this. I've read that WLS really messes with your hormones, I enjoy being 70 pounds lighter, but was hoping to be period free for the rest of my life LOL. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Have you talked to your gyno about this?  I am in the same boat...I am 51 and I have not had my period in 2 yrs.  I had Band surgery on 9/19 and this wkend I was spottiing.  I am so worried something is really wrong because my doc had told me if I spot at all to call her.  I am hoping it is just because I had the surgery and have lost 30 pounds this month.

I haven't had one for 15 years and really pray that I don't start. I'm only 55 but started menopause at 38 and no periods since I was 40.
