I'VE BEEN APPROVED!!!!!!!BUT.....

Hi All,

I got tired of waiting for bcbs to call me about my approval so I called them....
apparently I was approved 2 days ago. They said they never contact the patient only
the clinic. Well, I called the clinic to set up a surgery date and only got voicemail from
my surgeon's secretary. So, I left a message to call me.....she didn't so I called and asked
for someone else....they said they have not received the approval yet eventho bcbs said
they contacted the clinic on Tuesday. She said that once they get that message from bcbs,
the surgeon then decides on when he wants to do my surgery...he has a waiting list and
apparently he decides who and when. Well,,,,they don't know me very well....I'll just keep calling
them till they do the surgery just to shut me up. I'm happy but not knowing when the surgery
will be is the "bummer".  I heard thru the grapevine that the bariatric team likes to take time off
over the Holidays so they schedule few surgeries.
(I've been in contract negotiations this wk and my patience is not the best today).

Sometimes it is best to just look on the bright side.... being approved is one of the major hurdles that has to be jumped over....

Congratulations for jumping the huge insurance hurdle. Take a deep breath, flex your fingers, and keep dialing their number. I hope you get a date very soon. Waiting is the HARDEST part of WLS!!

Glad you've been approved. As a former reporter and a very impatient person, I've learned it's best not to wait to be called ... keep calling them back. That way, they'll get sick of you pestering them and will put you first on the list. I made the mistake when I was waiting to be far too patient and didn't pester them, and wound up waiting too long (because they lost my insurance information) and then having to go through some tests again, and having to pay for some stuff out of my own pocket because of it. Never again will I be patient!

This is great news!  The final huge hurdle has been crossed....You have been approved!!!  Now all you need do is to juggle around the dr's schedule and your on your way 

I hope you do get a date soon...Guess thsi is like having the cone but where's the icr cream...lol.  Try not to stress too much, but do coninue taking the bull by the horns to get the info you need.  I wouldn't think that at this point that if the surgery is scheduled after the holidays would be too bad.  If you're like me you just want ot know...............

Congratulations on getting approved!   Having worked in a physicians office, I know they would never schedule surgery without the approval in hand.   Can you have your insurance company fax over the approval ?   That may get them to schedulet the surgery sooner.

Thank you All for your words of encouragement. I can be very
impatient at times but I want this over and done. I'll just focus on other things again and start making my daily calls start next Monday. Have a great weekend everyone...I work today and tomorrow then leave for Madison Sunday for another round of contract negotiations.
