IT'S MONDAY - What's up with you?
I am taking a sick day today. Haven't had one in over 7 months or so. I have been fighting the nasty colds everyone has had around here and now have a very sore throat, and my asthma is acting up so I thought I'd have a lazy, nap day and see if I don't get to feeling better. I hate missing work because it will just be waiting for me when I get back and it will have multiplied.
Husband started the "remodel" on our bedroom. He is making floor to ceiling bookcase on the west end of the room. We will strip the hardwood floors and refinish. Also will paint, with colors! He usually just wants neutral or white but is giving me full reign with paint and I have picked out some warm peachy colors and a lovely green for the old baseboards. We thought we would refinish them down to the wood also but they have been painted so many times and are pretty intricate that he will sand them and we will paint. I am excited as our bedroom has always had that newly married college student look. Then our next project will be to repaint the kitchen, color there too!
We are going to add wood finished blinds (wood) to the bedroom also. Hoping for a rich, cozy, and warm look.
Made a fresh peach pie on Saturday. Took some to my parents. I got the perfect pie crust gene from my mom.
Am very envious of all of you going to the get together and hopefully one of these days I can go too!
I'll probably be checking back in today since I'll be home. The trick will be to really rest and not do chores that need done.
Take care,
Cheryl

My significant other, Gil, is quite the baseball fan and he's been a little neglectful this weekend. Didn't waste the free time though. I'm nursing sore, stiff muscles this morning but the compost pile is done for now and the dog won't be squeezing out of that gap that used to be in his fence while I'm in Fresno for surgery. Some housework and laundry got done this weekend too.
Back to work today for a whole week of auditors and closing out the books for September. Thankfully the work is sedentary but I'll need to move every hour or so to loosen up stiff muscles.
Happy week and speedy recovery to those under the weather.

love and hugs
Hope everybody is doing well this beautiful Monday morning!
What a busy weekend! George colored my hair Friday night. It was either that or he was going fishing alone so I could get my hair done Sat. George does a really good job, and it costs a lot less than getting it done at the salon. With only 3 hours sleep, I got up Sat. morning to go fishing. We caught quite a few keepers, a couple of stingrays - yuck, and several eels - double yuck! Got home for 1:00, tried to nap and couldn't. Sat. evening we went to the Gretna Heritage Festival. There were several really good bands playing at the 6 or so different stages - tough making the decision what one to see. We chose Christopher Cross (remember "Sailing" and "Arthur"), Foghat, and Blue Oyster Cult. George went in search of FOOD and came back with bacon wrapped shrimp for him and a pork shish kabob for me. I ate one of his shrimp and he had a bite of my pork! Both were good, but mine was much better. Sun. after Mass George cleaned fish and cut the grass while I went grocery shopping and did laundry. After a light lunch we went back to the Gretna Heritage Fest. - several more great bands, especially Bonerama (4 trombone players, a drummer, and guitar player, they are so good, we've seen them a couple of time before. We found dinner, shrimp and crab pasta for him and another shish kabob for me, then headed over to see the closing act which was Montgomery Gentry. We left about halfway through their performance so as not to get caught in the crowd waiting for the shuttle bus back to the parking area. OK, so now I'm exhausted!
Being me, I decided to go ahead and try to do my physical therapy on Sunday... it felt great! ... and I went through my routine again this morning and feel even better, so I won't go see the doctor today... i have a regulary scheduled apointment on Wednesday anyway so I will hang in there until then...
I am only taking a couple pain pills a day, instead of the 10-12 a day I needed before, I can sit at a table at a resturaunt without sticking my leg out in the aisle, and can walk a fair amount. I can finally roll on my side to sleep, and that has sure helped a lot.
So.... I am hanging in there....
I hope everyone has a great day!
I just finished catching up with the many posts from the weekend, as I don't have lots of time on my weekends to be visiting with you all.
For those whose teams were winners, hooray, my team was on a by weekend and I'm routing for the Dodgers, since my Mets aren't in it and I'm hoping Joe Torre's team does it.
Janet, I hope that everything you're experiencing passes quickly and I will be sure to keep you in my prayers and positive healing thoughts. . . as well as a few others of you having health issues, or recovering from surgeries. . .
My weekend consisted of attending an OH event in Philadelphia and it was a good event, not as good as the GTG I attended in Pittsburgh, or the PA Pilgrimage Event put on by some of my locals (Barix friends), but it was nice to see Eggface, Ramon (Da Shrinking Dawg), a couple of other speakers and Dr. Hurwitz and his associates, who gave consults throughout the day, as well as meeting people who post on the PA boards and a few from NY and NJ.
Well I did take advantage of the free consult and walked away feeling like, OMG, this is going to be expensive, but that is the first consult and Dr. Hurwitz is the innovator of the full body lift, so in the Spring I will begin, in earnest, to seek out other plastic surgeon's that come recommended from others in my area who have already undergone plastics, maybe I can get a lucky break and be one of Dr. Hurwitz' Discovery Channel projects
Anyway, after it was over, me and the women I rode up with went for dinner and then I went home to my AA meeting, yesterday Tony came down for the day and we hung ou****ching sports and I cooked us dinner, my first time cooking for him, he loved what I made and that was good. Went to bed early last night as I am sooo tired the last few days, think it might have to do with the change of seasons.
Today, I'm here at my work station and after I will be heading to the gym to do my workout and then home to bed. . .
Wishing you all a good day and prayers and positive thoughts going out for all &
Hugs, Laureen

I am going through something very weird. I grew up in Ohio, left when I got married at 19 and only have been back for visits. And a year or so between marriages. When there are catastrophes in my life I always want to run to the Marblehead Light house, it is my touch stone. I have badly been wanting to go for an Ohio visit for over a year. When I broke up with Chuck , it was a drive, I have to go visit my dad, then I would start to cry.My dad died 7 years ago !!! And we were never very close I would not go running to him with problems because I could never do anything right in his eyes. What the heck is with me?? I have all these fun things planned when I am in Ohio and going to meet with some "sistars" but still I cry and say I have to go see my dad, very weird, guess I will figure it out while I am there.
It was a nice weekend. Spent 2 days helping at the church, they are putting on a new roof and ipicked up old shingels that are thrown on the ground and tossed them in a high sided truck. 4 hous of that over 2 days, NEVER could I have done that for even 15 minutes before this surgery. Granddaughter and I spent another hour in the big historic cemetery I found, Picked a bag of apples too from some trees that were there. Tomorrow morning I will be Angeling a NE. gal who isgetting banded in the morning. Blessings.
I am not feeeling well today.....I have a cold and my asthma is also kicking in. I slept until 9:30AM...I am just dragging. I rarely sleep past 6:00AM....now I know I am sick!
It is a workday but I am doing what I need to do and only working a couple hours. I need to go back to bed!
George....you do quite the balancing act between jobs and home. It tires me out reading about it!!
Marc...it sounds like the knee is getting better although you are experiencing some unusual pain. I pray that improves quickly. Let us know how the doctor visit goes on Wednesday.
Annette.....Tom is a good husband and you are so lucky to have him...and of course he is even luckier to have you!! Take care and rest as much as you can. Love and healing prayers are on the way.
Cheryl....I like cyber hugs...not cyber colds.....thanks for sharing...hahahaha!! I hope you are feeling better soon.
Judy....you have a wonderful man....you are so blessed. I can't seem to find the right one. I am dating three right now....nothing serious just trying to get to know each other better. They treat me nice and one of them I am really starting to like more. We will see......
Your apartment sounds cozy!! Christmas....let me get past Halloween first!!
My mind has drawn a blank and can't remember who else I was going to reply to...CRS!! You are all just wonderful!!
I wish everyone a great day!!
Prayers, love and hugs to all.......connie d
