first post-op food temptation

I have been doing so well, not hungry and satisfied.  My husband announced he was making popcorn and it was like lights and sirens went off in my head.  I told him i was coming upstairs (didn't let him know it was the popcorn).  I have my 1/2 cup of crystal light and at 10 will have a sf ff popsicle.  I will survive.  I know that eating popcorn 4 days after surgery would hurt so much!!!

I think this helped me to truly realize that the band really is only a tool.   The food is still going to be out there and It will be up to me to have the discipline to stay out of trouble.

Good for you to make it past the first one. The smell of popcorn gets to me too but I have given it up because it upsets my "normal" stomach. My biggest problem for me will be baking bread. My family loves home made bread and I know that is a no no too. You're doing the right thing. Just remember the nine pounds you've lost and how much fun it is on the loser's bench. I can't wait!

Have a great Sunday.

You really get it.  You understand.  Congrats.  There are more days ahead like that, but there are healthy days ahead.  And that is ultimately what it is all about.

Thanks for posting, George!

Yes, I know there will be many temptations ahead, but at least when I weighed this morning there was another 1/2 pound gone, so it made it all worthwhile.

I feel satisfied now  and am going to make my first driving trip to a major supermarket before lunch.  I have my list and I will be strong!

Have a great day!!!

Blessings,

Hope the trip went well.  And you stayed with the list. LOL.

I don't know how much you have read on the board, but I just wanted to give you some reasoning on weighing.  Not that you asked.  Feel free to skip this.

There are four schools of thought to weighing.

1.  Some people only weigh when they go to the doctor's office.  They don't like being disappointed when weight does not go off as quick as they would like.

2.  Some people weigh only weekly.  The same day and time every week.  I can understand that, sorta.

3.  There are some that weigh once a day (that would be me), every day.  I do this so I can keep an eye on how I am doing. If I gain even a couple of pounds, the next day I concentrate on protein and liquid. It levels it back off quickly.

4.  There are those that weigh 3 to 5 times a day, or more.  They do this probably for the same reason I do the daily thing.

I am not saying any of these are right or wrong, just wanted to let you know, no matter which group you are in, you are not alone.  The every day works for me.  Use what works for you and do not be ashamed or afraid.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
