WOW, I am so pleased to see how many pets have been rescued and given good lives from you all. I have a 5 year old black cat named Coffee. I had a foster daughter who brought her home from the pound. She was premie and sickly on meds. The girl ran away and left the cat. I am not allowed to have pets in my apartment, so if the landlord ever finds out I am in doo doo, I will need to be rescued..

I love talking about my Dillinger. . .  it is a very long story, so I'll try to condense it. . .  he came in dish box with two remaining litter mates (he is a Rottie mix, but looks like the Mom, total Rott), my exhusband brought them home with an eye dropper and little bottle and powdered dog formula, they were two weeks old, 9 puppies were born to their mom who had had a previous litter less than a year earlier, the mother's milk dried up, puppies sick and dying, so my ex took the remaining puppies brought them home to me on Thanksgiving weekend.  I called all the non-kill shelters, they said sorry can't take anymore in, told me what I needed to do, so for TG weekend I was up every 2 hours getting food and fluids into these 3.  Dillinger was the sickest, thought he was blind because of a film over his eyes which had only opened up the day we got them, I made a sling and took him everywhere I went, including sneaking him into work and keeping him in a box under my des****il he was 6 weeks old. . .  I had his brother from Mother's 1st litter, got homes for him and his littermates, he went to a co-worker who adored him, she gave him to her husband for Valentine's Day, Dil was 3 months old then. . .  anyway, 11 months later I get a call that she has been hospitalized for the 6th time because of her allergy to Dil, so husband said he's got to go, me and my ex went to pick him up, he came right to me, as if to say where you been?  He was well mannered, but never looked back and by the time we got home I knew I was keeping him, for reasons too long to explain, I no longer had his brother and was heartbroken over that, we had a female shepard then, someone had given us. . .  he hadn't been fixed, she was a purebred we wanted to mate one time, she went into heat before I was able to get him fixed, we kept them apart until one day ex fell asleep and bingo 2-1/2 months from the time I got Dil back we had 11 puppies that were bigger then he was at 2 weeks old. . .  I interviewed and found homes for each one.  When I got divorced, my ex wanted Dil, I said no way, you can have the shepard . . .  Dillinger thinks he is a person and everyone, with exception of my son, who is afraid of big dogs, loves him, even people afraid of Rotts, he has a personality that is pure love, will be 12 on November 15!

George, I tried to keep it short, just hard to do. . .

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

I have 2 cats...both 6yrs old...brother and sister...
Diva is a shorthair calico and Bear is a medium hair orange. Diva was my daughter's but was near death and I nursed her back to health and my daughter couldn't take her back. My son thought that Diva should have a playmate so we took in her brother. We did have a rescued chocolate ****er at the time named Coco but she died a few yrs ago. I'd love to have a dog again but I'm not home enough to care for one properly.
My kitties keep me busy enough.

All of my pets are rescues and a darned good thing that we live in the boonies because I have so many.

INSIDE: Libby was our matriarch..25 pounds of orange & white -JB said she wasnt fat..she was a full-figured girl..like Jane Russell.  Libby slept with us but I had to have her put down at 7 yrs old for renal failure.the thrid time.  Ying was a siamese bluepoint, nasty lil critter but she and Derek had a special relationship..she died of old age at 19 last Spring.  Katie..our autisitic tortie is the last inside cat  now and has her own issues.

Outside, we have Zeus, a rescue rottie - 165 pounds- who eats ANYTHING and is a kleptomaniac.  I also have 22-PLUS outside cats & kittens- all red, red & white, 2 solid blacks, 3 white & blacks, two calicos, three torties, several grey tabbies and orange tabbies.  They are Spooky, Twinkie, Boots, Fred, Sammy, Herman, Angel, Smokey, LilyRose, Lucy, Hey You!, Cookie, Rinkydink, Furball, Grace, KC, Mabel, Muffin, Mr Smith,  Alice, Martha,  Grampa, George, and a few lil strangers.

LilyRose( the kitten whose back legs were straight out the sides) & Smokey( the little runt who never grew!) will be coming inside soon after they stop nursing...they will be dewormed, de-fleaed and neutered and then brought inside to live with Katie.  She needs to learn how to share.

Hi George!  How fun!
I have 2 rescued dogs, Angus I adopted in 2004 right after separating from the ex.  He was abused in a former life and has made great strides but will never be a "normal" dog.  I must say he is MUCH better then when I adopted him.  He is still fearful of most people unless he knows them. Men especially.  He is a black lab/hound mix.  He's sort of smart but sort of dumb....hmmmm, never mind. won't go there.  He liked my ex howver.  (I think it was only because HE fed him table scraps all the time) Angus is very food motivated!
Daphne is my sweet girlfriend.  She was one of my fosters and I fell in love and kept her. She is a chunky monkey Beagle mix.  And she is chunky.  She was about 15# when I got her, she's now about 35-40 and that is having LOST some weight!  yep, the girl does like to eat.  She barks at people coming in, but as soon as they come in she is at the door waiting for a tummy rub.  Angus would flee anyone breaking in and Daphne would want a belly rub, so I'm left holding the bag......LOL!
