Diet 6months before they say yes?????

I have Aetna and they required me to do a supervised diet and exercise plan for 3 months.  I'm the same as the rest of you, had dieted and exercised for years, even belonged to the gym and had started documenting my exercise when I first decided I wanted surgery, Just In Case.  I met with my nutritionist and then had to hire a trainer at my own expense to "formally" document my exercising.  Like some others said, it went by very quickly, and I learned a LOT about how to manage my eating post surgery.  My time with both the trainer and the nurtitionist were invaluable to me.  I understand the frustration and also that the insurance co's are trying to weed out those folks who decide to have WLS on a whim, but I don't think the requirement is necessarily a bad thing.  I think our actions need to change after surgery, and this is a way to get us on the right track, instead of thinking that surgery is just another magic bullet.

Just jump in there and go for it!  I doubt you will lose enough to get you disqualified from surgery, and in the meantime, you will be better prepared for the life changes post surgery.  Good luck!

What everybody said.  I didn't think it was so bad and the 6 months flew by.  Plus it gave me a headstart on the weight loss.
