It's hard to believe!

Hi folks,

It is day 3 days after surgery and I am doing great!  Had my first yogurt today and it took me almost 50 minutes to eat it.  I never would have believed that a week ago!

For all of you newbies, each day is getting better!

I had my first yogurt today too, but I was not allowed to have one until I was in my 2nd week, which tomorrow will be the end of that for me.  So glad you are doing so well.  Yes, it is amazing at how full you feel on practically nothing!!  I hear that changes for a while, until the fills kick in,  but I am going to go with the flow for as long as possible.

Cara:

I understand what you are saying.  I'm still not really hungry at all yet! and I am afraid I am not getting enough vitamins and stuff.  The Dr. did have me start the protein shakes so I am doing them 3 times a day so I guess that takes care of it.

Not looking forward to the days when hunger returns and I have to fight it!

Jeane,

Glad you are doing well... I still can't say that I am hungry and I am 7 weeks out now.  Thirsty, but not hungry.

Just follow your doctor's plan...

Thanks, Shelia, hope that is true for me as well.

It is definitely hard to get the proteins and calories in early in the game.  I still have trouble doing it.  I am just not hungry and since I had to do two weeks of shakes before my surgery, I am so over them right now.  I typically have one at breakfast and then I sorta nurse one during the day as my fluid...but there are some days I am lucky to get in 300 calories and I can feel it when I don't get my food in.   I am wiped out.  Just do your best....that's all anyone can expect and hopefully it will get a bit easier.

I just don't want to go into "starvation mode" so that I don't loose weight.

I am losing weight just fine.  I have some days where I can eat more, and then days where I can eat a lot less, but they seem to even out and I am not having a problem in the losing dept at this point.  I am only two weeks out.  Today starts week 3 for me and I am going to add in some egg!  Whoo hoo!

DO YOU ADD PROTEIN TO THE YOGURT?  IF SO, WHAT KIND?
