I "highly" recommend an ELECTRIC pressure cooker. You can get a Wolfgang Puck brand one on Ebay for about $79 and no shipping, and they also have several on QVC. (Mine came from QVC) I'd say the smallest you would want is 5 qts which is a pretty common size to buy. That and 8 qts are probably most common, but I think the 8 qts is more for family sized things. My electric one is an upgrade to a pressure cooker I've had and used for years, but I would NEVER go back. The electric one you just "set it and forget it" as some OTHER item claims.....
You'll LOVE the taste of pressure cooking. The speed is just a bonus. I can cook a LARGE (6 pound) boneless chuck with carrots, potatoes, etc in less than an hour without heating up the kitchen. Chicken cooks in even less time.
Enjoy!
By the way, google "Miss Vickie's pressure cooker recipes" for a website devoted to pressure cooking.

Marc,
I am the queen of pressure cooker. I have 2 pressure canners, a 8 qt and 2) 5 qts and I use them all the time. You will love 'em. I don't have an electric one but would not give up one of mine for anything. That one of the things I made sure my children had when they left home.
Veggies 5 min
Chicken 20-30 min (depends on size)
Beef Stew 20 min
Beef Roast 35-45 min (depends on size)
It leaves the food incredibly moist and flavorful.
I promise you will never regret the purchase, if you do send it on to me!!! LOL
