I'm home from the hospital and feeling great!
Woooo Hoooo Welcome home and congratulations..... concentrate on your foods, water and exercise and you will be fine. As long as you are doing what the Dr and Nutritionist say your body will adjust. Remember your body just went through a major ordeal and is wondering what the heck you did to it... lol Take care of yourself... Millie
Thank you everyone. I'm going to try to rest and I'd like to start doing some walking, even if it's just a short walk. I probably should not have gotten on the scale today but I did...and I gained a pound since the morning before surgery. That kinda bothers me. Is it normal? I was hoping to see a loss. Could it be some post-surgical water weight? Maybe I just need to stay off the scale.
You guys are all awesome!!!

There are two schools of thought when it comes to weighing. Both agree that you should not worry about the short term one pound gain you are talking about. Could easily be water. Very easily.
Me personally, I weigh twice a day, every day. Ever since the day of my surgery. I weigh before I go to be in the morning (I work overnight). Then I weigh again when I get up about 1:30 PM. I do this to keep track of my progress. And I found that when I did have an increase, all I did was concentrate on getting enough water the next day and I was fine. I want to watch my weight. I have no****ched it in many years. Now, if I see a gain, I can fix it rapidly. Since I hit my goal weight of 220, I have continued to lose a little more. I made up my mind that I will be staying between 209 and 213. And I have for the last 3 weeks.
Sorry for the long story here.

Laura, congratulations! I am glad to hear that you are doing so well. I had my surgery 2 days before you had yours, and it is amazing how much better I feel in comparison to even 2 days ago. Now, I have almost no problem drinking liquids and can drink 8 oz. of hot tea, etc. in about 5 minutes! I could not do that 2 days ago.
Unfortunately, I find that I am hungry all the time! The liquids are just not doing it for me. I feel like I am spending my whole day focussed on food. I sure hope this improves when I can eat solids.
I haven't really lost any weight either, maybe 4 lbs since surgery. So I guess this is normal?

Well I DID get on the scale again today and I lost a couple of pounds so I'll stop my whining now.
Janet---I was told all my liquids whether it be meals or whatever (i.e. pureed soup) should take me at least 30 minutes to finish. So I've been taking everything sloooooowwwwww. The protein shakes (4 oz.) are supposed to take an hour. That's nearly impossible for me, especially that a protein shake gets nasty after sitting around an hour but I'm taking about 50 minutes to finish one. I have no hunger. BUT I do think about solid food. Today I was wanting a fish fry, so I do know what you mean. The day will come when we can have solid foods again. I'm looking forward to that day...haha
Thanks everyone for all the comments, support, well wishes... you're all fantastic.
