Good for you!  I swear, all that working out made my surgery that much easier.  No reason not to get into the best health possible prior to going in.  Plus, I just feel better when I work out.  It's what keeps me coming back for more.  I walked my neighborhood yesterday, and since I have lost some weight after being on liquids for a month, I found it even easier!  What a pleasure that is.

Cara,

I find the treadmill to be so boring... I can't read and walk - too unco-ordinated!  Now I can do my cycle and read and I am up to 30 minutes with it.  So give me some pointers.

I am glad you are able to get back to exercising.  I still find that word a *dirty* word!  LOL

I went to water aerobics this morning, but can't make any other times this week.  Next week my schedule looks like I can go twice.  And it was fun and I felt like it could be beneficial.  Of course, just moving is better than nothing...

Congratulations - you are doing great!

Hi Sheila!

Sounds like you are moving and staying active. That's GREAT!

I'm just the opposite of you tho, I can't stand the stationary bike, but whatever floats your boat is the way you should go.  The water aerobics sounds like fun. I have done low-impact aerobics and step aerobics, but never the water aerobics.  I hear it is kinder to your knees and ankles.  I also love taking yoga classes, and I could use some intense stretching right about now, but I have a rotator cuff tear that has been keeping me from what I really love, which is the free weights and cable weights.  I was really getting on with my trainer, and pushing it when I decided to get my shoulder looked at, and found I had a tear.  Now I am trying to stretch it until I am well enough to start physical therapy on it, in hopes that  I don't need surgery...but one step at a time, this surgery had to come first.  My trainer said he would rent out my session space, but as soon as I asked for it back he was kicking out the person using it.  We have so much fun working out together, and we really miss our times together.  He's a sweet kid.

At my gym ,they have TV's to watch, so I watch the closed caption when I walk on the treadmill.  I also load my Ipod with peppy music that I love and I just walk to that.  I use my Ipod when I walk outside too.  I just love to walk.  I also love to use the eliptical machine, but I haven't been released for that just yet...pardon the pun, but one step at a time I guess.

Yes, just moving helps.  I'll bet on those days you work out, you sleep better and feel better about yourself.  It's a miracle drug to me.  Sounds like you are doing well too!!

Keep up the good work!!

Cara

ps...treat exercising the same as brushing your teeth, and it will become a habit you hate to break....also, the more you work out, the more calories you can eat!!  (maybe not so true anymore tho, huh?)
