Hi "Lucy In the Sky".  I am from North Dakota and I am waiting for a surgery date.  I will be 66 on November 15th.  I asked my surgeon if he would do the surgery on my birthday but being the 15th is a Saturday he laughed and said no. So right there, you and I have something in common!!!.  Age is just a number as someone else pointed out and doggone it, I want to have fun again and feel good again.  So an Early Happy BIrthday to you and the best to you.  I'm glad you found this forum too.  Keep in touch, this is a great place to come to.

HI! I am 64 and had my RNY two and a half months ago. I am very excited for you. Most people that have it will have renewed energy and a lot less medication. I have had to go shopping...terrrible LOL. You are starting a new journey and a healthier you. I was in it for the shopping...just kidding.

Hi Lucy, and welcome.  My son is going before the promotion board (Sgt.) on the 8th, so it will be a wonderful day all around.  Hang with us and we'll keep you company before and after.

I actually think about the shopping I will be able to do.  All my adult life my style was "If it fits, I'll take it".  I don't even know what my own taste/style is.  What fun it will be to find out.

Thanks so much for writing to me.

 Hi Claudy,

All my life my shopping for clothes came down to this: If it fits, I'll take it.  I have no idea what my taste really is, or my style.  I look forward to finding out.  But, mainly I look forward to getting healthy.  Thank you so much for writing.

Hi!
I was 68 1/2 when I had my RNY in August 2007. I no longer take diabetes meds or high blood pressure meds
and have lost 88 lbs. so far. I feel great. Just came back
from a 3,000 mile trip to New England and there wasn't anything I couldn't do on the trip....it was wonderful.

Medicare is really "on board" with this surgery.....I was
automatically approved.

Good luck!

Pat R.
