Hi, my name is Eydie and I live in Alberta, Canada.  I am new to this forum.  I am scheduled for RNY surgery in Arizona Oct.29 but  now may  be able to get it in Edmonton...am really up in the air with this last minute decision by the health insurance here. I was going to leave for Arizona tomorrow and now will have to see the Edmonton surgeon on Tuesday.

Which ever way it goes, i want the Rny so wish me luck.  It is really good to see so many of you over 50 who have been sucessful with theRNY.  I am 58 and a few doctors up here won't touch you if you are over 50.

Will keep you posted on my progress.   Thanks

Wecome to OFF, Eydie! It is a wonderful place to meet and that is what we do all the time. We meet here in the morning and discuss our day and what we did yesterday as just seem to chat and bond. I can't start a day until I get my OFF fix. It is addictive but in the best way. We offer each other unconditional love and acceptance. We share the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful things that are happening in our new and improved life. All we ask is that you post often and that way we can get to know each other. Just ask any questions that you might have since there are so many knowledgable people on here to help you.

Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery. My prayers are with you.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

 *~*~*~*~~*  W E L C O M E .... To the wonderful world of OFF......

wouldn't it be great if you could have surgery near home....  But, now maybe you will have a choice of where to go.  Of course, Arizona would be nice and warm this time of year.

Best Wishes on your decision....   Millie

welcome a-board

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  It is 5 AM and I can't sleep because I have this appointment in Edmonton tomorrow to see the surgeon and we are going up today as my appointment is early in the morning.

I am really torn about where to get the surgery ( if they offer it to me uphere) as I have been preparing with Dr. Blackstone's clinic in Scottsdale for about 5 months and feel really good about her as a surgeon.
Of course , money wise it would be better for me to have it at home as I would have to cover any expenses from complications myself  if I go to AZ.and a few extra days in the hospital in Arizona could make it very hard for me to pay for my care.

Well, I guess all I can do is hear what they have to say up here and then make the decision about where to have it...because I am having it!!!!

I'll keep you posted and thanks again.

YOU  GO  GURL>>>>>..     It would be nice to have it  paid for in Edmonton...... but your determination to have a healthier life style is to be commended.  It would have been easy to put it off because of finances.  My thoughts and prayers are with you for your decision.  Millie
