Great therapy!
Marc, That is absolutely fabulous!! Since my husband is disabled (diabetic retinopathy) and can't do he previous hobbies (motorcycle and golf, can't see well enough) he's looking into wood working. Since I've been going around with him to the woodworking stores and seeing all there is to see, I like the lathe work (that is what wood turning is called right?) the best. If I could do something that is what I'd do. I loved the feel of the finished bowl. One of my favorite pieces was the pepper mill.
When my Dad was alive he carved gun stocks from blocks of wood (mostly by hand) and did a lot of inlay work on them. His stuff is pretty well kn own down in Louisiana. But, he would just love what you do.
Hey, take care of that knee. (they didn't put you on one of those motion machines that bend your knee for you? Louis was on one for 3 weeks.)

It is beautiful. have you ever gotten some mesquite? It can have some nice characteristics as well. I have not seen the Texas Sweetgum before. Do you find you get into the 'zone' so to speak when you are turning and all else seems to fade away? We should all be so lucky to have something that does that for us.
