Time for the great protein debate...
Linda:
I don't know the answer to your question, but reading some of your story was amazing. A doctor telling you to drink beer at age 8? Wow, what was wrong with that man? I thought it was strange that a doctor prescribe thyroid pills for me without a test. (My mom was desperate for me to lose weight, I was 10 and overweight, and she thought there must be a metabolic disorder, so she asked our quack family doctor for thyroid pills, which he prescribed without doing a test ... I think that must have messed me up for life!)
As far as protein goes, my nut told me at two months out I shouldn't do any protein drinks at all, that I should eat regular food. Drinking protein should be reserved if you couldn't keep food down or get your protein for any other source. She said too many WLS patients relied on protein drinks along with food and gained weight. That said, I do drink AchievOne for breakfast, but it's the only thing I have for breakfast, nothing else; the rest of the time I have real food. My nut insisted we should have three meals and a snack a day, like real people do, because she wanted us to function like regular people. I've been following that plan most of the time ... sometimes I fall off the wagon and have to remind myself of what I'm doing. I love cheese ... I eat a lot of cheese, but I hate cottage cheese ... hated it when I was not dieting and never ate it when I was dieted (did Weigh****chers many times ... my sister lost lots of weight on WW ... back when you had to make ketchup on the stove... yuck! I'm sure you remember those days). I am fortunate to be able to eat lots of real food with no problems.
Your profile is amazing too ... your before photos are something and your photos now are amazing ... wow, you look great, girl!
