Time for the great protein debate...
Hiya Linda, what a lovely name you have.. .
Yes, one day at a time, I have come thus far. The journey always begins with the first step, I look forward to sharing your journey as it inspires me, and I think our stories shared makes us all stronger.
I saw Amy Williams on a show, look her up under people, I said if this woman can do it, so can I. You already know you can too!

Hi Linda,
My nutritionist told me that the amt of protein you consume in a day should be divided equally by 3 or if you are consuming many small meals, divide by the # of meals. I feel better when I divide the protein up..keeps me going strong till the next meal.
Very interesting topic Linda, thanks.

Hiya Alice, I too never eat big meals, but do not eat 6 small ones because I could never get them all down and drink all the fluids I am supposed to. I do remember at the beginning I was eating about 6 small one's though. God bless my NUT, it seems I was always eating, drinking, or taking a vitamin, so in a way, it seemed there was more going in, just much much smaller portions..smile.
The only time I ever eat a full cup of something is if it is a "smushie" veggie, like spinach or salad. The smushie things are things that go down to half their size once eaten..LOL.
I once went "up there", the main forum, and they were talking about "sliders" I read long enough to realize the were talking about cheese burgers and such, I asked if this was not the food we were to avoid, never got an answer, and never went back there. People think WLS is easy, that the weight falls off of you and you do not have to make the right choices everyday, like Oprah states over and over again, I no longer watch her show. It is interesting that she now has a disease that will not allow her to be as small as she once was....

Hi, Linda and everyone!
I got out of the hospital and home by 11AM this morning, Everything went fine, though I had pain because of gas. Didn't sleep much last night. I was never so happy to pass gas in my life!!! Finally did it this morning.
My Dr. said I can start adding milk and protein as soon as I want. I have had no problem with nausea or vomitting and am drinking and drinking today. I didn't think I would like beef and chicken broth, but I do! A half cup at a time is certainly enough. How mind boggling!!!
I gained weight post op, is this normal? I haven't eaten anything and I thought surely I would have lost something. My RN daughter says it is because My body is so busy healing right now. One incision is a little sore, but not bad.
Can't wait until I can join the looser's bench,.

Hi, Linda,
I feel much better today. I am stepping up! I was allowed to add milk and protein drink today plus I went out and did a little walking (around the Bapist parking lot). I am planning to walk after lunch but go a little farther.
After getting some good advise, I am not going to weigh again until I go back to Dr. Trehan on the 14th of Oct. I expect to see some weight loss by then.
Drinking, resting, and walking is the game plan of the day.
How are you doing???
Blessings,
Jeane
