Hi.  I posted to the LW board and the main board and thought it would be good to introduce myself here.  It took a while to find this place, I didn't realize there were subgroups!  Ya, my son calls me a techno idiot!!

You all have different lingo than other places and I have been trying to figure out what OFF means...  Came up with all kinds of corny things but I am pretty sure it doesn't really stand for Old Folks... somethin or other, right??  LOL

I most likely will be able to have my surgery the first week of November if all goes well with my appointments next week.  My cardiologist feels it will be a big load off my heart and it should help my lipids go down and my cholesterol, and he also has had other patients have wls with tremendous improvement.

I don't often post, but read a good bit.  Am so happy to have found folks my age to chat with.
God Bless!
Patti

Welcome Patti,

The OFF stand for Over Fifty Forum. This is one of the best boards ever. The people on this board are friendly, helpful kind, always willing to anser any questions you have concerns and offer any prayers you need. Climb aboard and sit back and join in when you can. I don't post to often but always try to welcome new people to the boards, send prayers to off buddies on surgery day and give advice when I have some. You will find this board very friendly and stay a while. God Bless you.

Thank you Millie and Kathi.

And here I thought it meant something else, LOL... I should qualify for a board that doesn't yet exist, the Alzheimers Weight Loss Group!!   I saw on this board too that there are prayers, not just those silly chickens and lizards stuff and I feel real comfortable being here,  Thanks again for the welcome.

God Bless!

Patti, many welcomes to you on coming to the best of the best boards that OH have to offer.

You have stumbled into a group of people that like the life that we now have and so you won't see a lot of drama here. We offer support, unconditional love, laughs and sometimes tears. We allow us to be us and we love everyone warts and all. I hope that you post often so we can get to know you and you can get to know us. So just grab a cup of whatever you like to sip on and pull up a comfy chair and join in the fun. We love to share with each other the comings and goings in our lives. Sometimes I say that we live vicariously through the others here. haha I at least know that I do. :-)

Welcome to OFF and you are a part of now. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery and know that any questions you might have there is someone on here that is going to be able to help.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Welcome from Canada!!
I also am fairly new, just a couple of weeks.
My surgery is Nov 5 and I am nervous but excited.  It still feels so far away and I want it NOW.
Everyone on this board seems so caring.
How does everyone cope with the stress of Waiting????

Nice to see I am not the only newbie over here, so nice to meet you all!

I am keeping busy by planning to paint, lol.  Seriously, this was something I really wanted to get done, but soon as I bought the paint, my Pop had another heart attack, had to go for bypass surgery since his 2 stents were completely blocked.  I was so busy with taking care of him post op that I just put it off.

Then in the summer, after my dad had packed up to go back to his apt, much to my great annoyance, since my son was behaving soooo much better with his Poppop staying with us...  my son got sick with fevers and ended up in Children's Hospital to try to get to the bottom of it.  He left there with the dx of fever of unknown origin!!  good and bad.

Anyhow, I hope to get the living room, dining room and hallway painted before I go in November.  I plan to nag the heck out of my son to clean up his room too, lol.  Ok, yes, I am an idealistic dreamer, but I see no good reason why a boy of 16 and then some just cannot keep trash in the can and bring his plates and cups down to put in the dishwasher.

I also have made numerous trips to the grocery to stock up on the foods I will be able to "eat" after surgery, but some of those things will just have to wait till after I can drive to the market to get since they won't keep that long... yogurt, cottage cheeses, stuff like that.

And, of course, pouring through these posts to become as educated about what I am gonna do to myself so I don't end up having to have transfusions and such.

This is like the last weeks of pregnancy, the waiting is tough!
