What's New Wednesday?
It's a little after 1 a.m. ... I'm a little tired, just took my nighttime meds and hope they're going to work quickly tonight. I'm pretty tired, definitely very cranky after only 5 hours of sleep Monday into Tuesday and no nap, then spending Tuesday trying to shoehorn things onto the page (and my editor is dreaming with all the stuff he wants me to get on the business page!). I was in such a bad mood I bit off the metro editor's head ... the guy I work with who does the briefs package and the biz copy ... most of the time he deserves it but last night he probably didn't. He happened to come by right when I was trying to figure out how to get all the copy into the section; then told me I didn't have one story that I figured on for photos (which was good in a way, but screwed up my planning) ... I was in pain, tired, and just in a foul mood. I sent him an e-mail before I went home and apologized for biting off his head. Like I said, most of the time, he deserves it ... not last night, though ... just a victim of cir****tances.
Well, my White Sox played horribly last night, another reason for my foul mood. They better play better tonight or the season will go down the tank, and I don't want to have to listen to those Cub fans all winter long. Although the Sox are still the only Chicago baseball team with a World Championship in recent memory.
My knee is feeling a little better ... that knife is coming out a tad ... I was able to survive today at work without a vicodin, although I did feel twinges of pain. Dental appointment went OK, no cavities.
So what's up with you?
Looking at my overtime for the next 2 weeks. But it will be fine when I get a look at my check. This weekend I am working 10 hours Friday night and 8 hours Saturday night. I would have worked 10 Saturday, but the Texas Message Board is having a Black and White Dinner. There will be 70 or more people there from all over Texas.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
OT is always good ... I wish I'd get some more, but they are cutting back here so much, I'm just happy to get my normal hours.
Still having problems with my DVR ... didn't record another show last night, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in to see if rebooting it would make it work right. Seems it's not recording two shows at the same time. If that doesn't work, I'll call Comcast and complain.
Eileen, I am not a sports fan at all but understand your enthusiasm. My Dad was a die hard Yankee fan. He used to make frequent trip to watch them play in person and watched/listened to every game. When the Yankees played, we were not allowed to breathe, talk or interrupt in any way. I dreaded baseball season.
In anticipation of being at home for a while, I am stock-piling books to read. The Salvation Army has a good selection and only charge about 75 cents apiece.
My poor old car will be getting a long overdue servicing too. It needs brakes, inspection, rotator cuffs, struts, new tires, rear window defroster repaired, and I think it has an A-frame problem.
My mechanic has stalled me for ages! I told him he treats me like a wife and to put the darned thing on his schedule - or ELSE I was going to have a hissy fit and act like his wife. He laughed at me.
Nah - I didn't get too angry with him. We have been friends for over 25 years, I own the garage and he does all the work (part & labor included) as part of the rent agreement. I think he and Tom are in cahoots to keep me carless and off the road after surgery.
Annette
Just a hit and run today. Some ninny (me, who else?) booked an early appointment. Gonna have to fire that girl someday! Any how, just wanted to stop in, say "hi" and wish you all a good Wednesday. I think of you often, even when I'm not around.
hugs to all!
Susan
Annette:
Yes, I'm a baseball nut too ... somewhat into pro football too, but not as much as baseball. My dad was into sports, but he'd talk when it was on too, which is how I got interested in sports. I wanted to be a sports writer and cover the White Sox when I was young. Well, I got to be a sports writer, but never covered the White Sox; that's OK, because I don't think I'd want to deal with the overinflated egos of pro players. And then I got burned out covering sports, which is how I got to be a copy editor. Now I really enjoy my sports again because I don't have to consider it work.
What kind of books do you like? And when again is your surgery?
My little 1996 Honda needs work too if I intend to keep her running ... and I have to because I can't consider buying a new car for another two years.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
