It's Tuesday, What's New with You?
Hi my OFF Family and all you newbies:
Boy, there are so many newbies out there, and I'm so happy to welcome y'all (that's my best Southern accent, leftover from my Georgia days).
Up late, as always, after work and watching TV; bummed because the DVR didn't record Boston Legal ... every now and then it decides it doesn't like a show. A few years ago it was the show about the show that was like Saturday Night Live ... can't remember the name but it was canceled after a year ... anyway, every now and then it would start recording it and stop, or it wouldn't record it at all. This year, apparently, it doesn't like Boston Legal. Well, I like it!
Anyway, up late hopefully the pain meds and other night meds kick it and the man who's sticking the knife in my knee would quit (really, I know there's no one sticking a knife in my knee, but that's what it feels like, and it got extremely bad today ... so bad I took the vicodin into work with me; otherwise, I would have been screaming in the newsroom and unable to do my job). I was just about screaming as I drove into work, but I had to wait until I got to work to take a pill; then until I got home again to take another. I'm still in a lot of pain. Really, I hope this rehab doc on Friday can do something for me. I can't take this pain much longer. My friend Roxane suggest acupuncture, and if insurance would pay for it, I'd do it; but I can't afford it. She didn't have any other suggestions, and she usually has good advice ... but about the time she was going to give me some, her family came home, and she was talking to kids ... the young ones and her hubby.
I got some interesting news yesterday from my brother. Seems his ex might be getting WLS (she lives in the Dallas area now). I hope she does. I'm not happy with how she treated my brother in the divorce, but I don't wish her ill. I hope she gets some help with her weight. My brother says his son told him she is the biggest she has ever been (I have always known her to be overweight). Knowing how I have struggled with my weight, I hope she finds success with WLS too. But I hope she realizes she has to work at it.
The other news (that I found out from Judy, but kinda knew anyway) is our MMPC bariatric docs are forming their own practice. I guess everyone got letters already ... not me yet. We had a story in the paper last week; I was just waiting for the official letter.
Well, I guess I should go to bed and try to sleep. I hope the pain subsides. I plan to go to ceramics today and pick up all my stuff; this will be the last class I go to. It has become too expensive to continue to go there ... it's quite a distance from my condo, and greenware, class fees, etc. are more than I want to spend. Plus, nobody wants this stuff anymore, and I don't have room for it. I'll just have to figure out other things for Christmas presents.
Well, have a good day. I'll check back later.

Good morning all. Wonderful day today. Don't know why, it just is.
We got 14 or 15 recipes to try on the Mouthwatering Mondays thread. That's good. Enjoyed looking at some of the favorites. Now we have to wait until later in the week when Brenda gives us next week's topic.
Sorry you have problems with your DVR Eileen. I have Uverse and have no problems at all. I really like that I can control what is recorded on the internet. That really was helpful when I was recording Big Brother and working Sunday night. When I found out the football game ran late, I quickly logged into Uverse and added another show following Big Brother to make sure I got the whole show. Uverse is also upgrading in my area in 2 weeks to allow us to record and watch off of any TV (I could always do that with DISH). It is nice that they are upgrading. Also, from what I understand, there will be an extra charge per TV in the future, but those that already have it are grandfathered in for free.
The new season started on TV. I do no****ch Heroes, so that did not matter to me. I don'****ch Dancing with the Stars. But I do watch the CBS comedies and CSI Miami. Well, I watched the comedies. Was not impressed with the new one (Worst Week). I did DVR CSI Miami. Don't know when I will get to watch it, but I will eventually.
Oh well, have a good day.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Yeah, George, I thought about changing to AT&T but part of my condo fees pays for cable; I could change and get it reduced but I'm waiting for the end of baseball season to make a decision (I have the baseball package). If it ever doesn't record a baseball game, I'm really unhappy! Like tonight ... the big White Sox-Twins showdown ... Go Sox! They don't play very well in the Twinkies playhouse (the Metrodome).
I saw CSI Miami ... that recorded. It was good ... I was just angry Boston Legal didn't. Oh well, I'll just have to make sure I record reruns now.

Wow... scares me to death when I read about all this pain you are still having with the knee! You would think that a doctor would do what he/she could do to repair this.... I went to my 2 week follow up yesterday and I can't imagine my surgeon not caring enough to take some action if I was in pain.
As for me, the follow up went great.... they were all very complimentary telling me stuff like i am walking better than the other patients they have who had surgery 2 months ago, and my surgery was just 2 weeks ago. I got all the staples out, and am scheduled to start out patient therapy on Wednesday instead of home care.
I am going to try and drive a little today... if I don't get out, i am going to go stir crazy!
I need to find a source for some trees around here... i want to make bowls again, but for some reason can't seem to find any downed trees to cut up.... I can still make some pens, and may just do that but I have an itch to make bowls again .....
Hope y'all have a great day!

Looks like you're making a baseball bat there ... can you send it to me so I can use it on my ortho doc's head? Maybe I can pound some sense into him? At two months out, I was doing really well ... it was just last November things started to go bad. The ortho doc acts like he cares, but he doesn't do anything for me; just tells me, "you can do normal things ... like swim and bike." I would just like to be able to sit at my desk at work without being in so much pain that I want to scream.
Yeah, I understand about going stir crazy ... when I had my surgery, it was in the middle of winter and we were having lots of snow storms ... in Michigan, they think they're blizzards, but they're mild compared to what we had in South Dakota; these were just a little snow and high winds here; in SoDak, we had 10-12 inches of snow and 80 mph winds for days at a time. Now that's a blizzard!

Ohhhh Marc, I love hand crafted wood items. I have several pens and a few other cute items. I miss being able to work with the wood like I did. My ex now has a full shop with all the horns bells and whistles... grrr When I left I took MY tools... scroll saw, drills, sanders mostly hand tools. My son has them now. One of the things I liked doing was Intarsia... I have a few flowers and angels I did with the lighter woods and stained some of them.
Glad to hear your knee is doing so well too. Millie

Good morning Eileen and all,
I took a chance to try something totally new and different for the support groups and invited a person to come in for make-overs. (She was a Mary Kay representative.)
We met in advance and I made it clear that this was not to be a selling opportunity in any way, shape or form. She agreed to adapt her usual presentaion and just give the make-overs. NO SELLING or pushing the products.
Judging by the laughs and joking, it seemed to be fun and informative for all. The women asked for tips about skin and make up issues. It was a large group but she managed to address each person individually.
Our meetings usually address WLS, eating issues and concerns, so I was hesitant about this idea. But I figured that how we look is important too. It was fun for a change of pace.
