I got a question not a secret....

I take a capsule of Nuerontin for the diabetic nueropathy. I usually take it in some sf applesauce with cinnamon but last night for some reason I just took it with my decaf hazelnut coffee. I thought after I swallowed it that I shouldn't have done it. I was afraid that it might get stuck. It didn't but should I continue to take it with the applesauce or can I just take it now? I thought that I heard that it is hard to get a capsule to dissolve but I am not sure that is what I really heard. So if someone could help me I would be deeply appreciative. I would rather just take it and not have to mix it but since I have been doing it for almost a year I will continue if need be.

Thanks so much for the help. I know that I can always count on my family to come through with answers.

If your able to swallow them, I say go ahead. I took Nuerontin once. I went into a coma like state. Won't ever do that again......I get chills when I read people take it........

My preference in meds is either chewable or liquid. My doctors know that and if they forget I remind them. There usually is a liquid form for the meds...I said usually, but not 100%. You can ask your pharmacist in what forms the meds come in and then request the script be changed by your doc.

Ok, now, what do you labs say your B-12 levels are???

Thanks so much for the info, Darlene. I am not sure just what the B12 level is. I have never gotten a copy of the blood work results. Next month when I get all my blood work done and my 1 year visit I am going to ask for a copy and keep them all. I have noticed that everyone gets them and never thought about it. I know that the wls nurse told me to get the B12 shot from my pcp and she wouldn't do it because you can get toxic (she said) from them if you don't have a low count. I have since realized that you can't get toxic from B vitamins. I just can't stand her and I am looking around for a new one. I really think that I need those shots. I just have no energy and I am getting so tired of it. I want to be able to go and keep going and not tire out so fast.

I do know that the Nuerontin has affected my memory something terrible. It can do that. I tried the liquid form of it right after surgery and it just made me so sick I couldn't do it anymore. I just wanted to hurl each time I had to take it. Do we have a problem with the disolving of the capsule since we had the surgery? That is what worried me the most.

go to walmart or rite aid or walgreens or somewhere like that and get some B12 sublinguals to start.......put one under your tongue everyday.......

Get copies of all your past labs and I'll send you the lab tracker to fill in.....

I keep my B12 over 1000...that is a safe number for me and others...

Brenda dearest, just drink well, the pill should not harm you. My doc gave me the B12 injection kit, and said I should take one a month. We mal-absorb everything.
Kudos on firing that pcp, girl friend.
Hugs and prayers!

Hey Brenda, I was up to 13 of those capsules a day, when I was going to the pain center.
I had no trouble with the capsule. I think early out it may be a problem, but you should be fine.
I do not take it anymore. Thank God!
Take care,
