X-Post- 6 Month Program Done- Surgical Consult Oct. 7th
I am so Excited. I got through my 6 months program and diet and had all my blood tests, ultrasound, EKG and got the green light from my dietician and my psych. to go ahead to see the surgeon. I started the process on April 4th and I see my Surgeon on Oct. 7th for my surgical consult and then to schedule my surgery. I will be having Open RNY and Gallbladder removal done and I am hoping for sometime Mid to Late Nov. or Early Dec. for my surgery date.
I just wanted to share my news, It is becoming so real now, all the work on losing weight before surgery and all the hoops to jump though, the end is finally in sight. I have lost 21 lbs since starting the process and I hope to lose another 5-10 lbs before my surgery. I will be on a 2 weeks liquid diet before surgery so that should also help with losing some weight and shrinking my liver. However, it will be closer to the Holidays and may be harder to stick with the liquid diet but I am committed to this process and will do what ever I have to do to get this surgery. I do not have a lot of family anymore so the Holidays are not as hard for me as for many others with families. I need all your support and prayers as I go through this surgery and recovery.
I thank you all for your suggestions and recipes, etc. in the past. I do not post a lot but I read posts all the time and gain a lot of info. as well as ideas and support from you all. Thank you so much. I may be posting more as the surgery time gets closer but I have saved a lot of recipes and advice to my computer from these forums. I am age 51 and 5'5" and started at 311 lbs and I am down to 290 lbs since I started the process. You are all such a Blessing to me here and I will need all your help, advice and Prayers for the months ahead. I will post here when I have my date. I hope to find out the surgery date at my Surgeon Consult on Oct. 7th. My surgery will be done at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. Yippie, I will soon be on the losers bench. I have been looking forward to this for years for my health and quality of life.

Good for you Mary Ellen. It can be a daunting process ... it's tough to stick through it and lose ... I sure didn't. I gained as I waited, I got so depressed. But here I am, four years later, and 180 pounds lighter, and so happy to have had this surgery. You will be too, I hope. Hang in there, your day will come.
