I Went Out for a Last Meal!

Tonight Steve and I went out to Charlie Brown's Steakhouse so I could have a last meal before starting liquids tomorrow morning.  I had salad bar and well-done prime rib. It really was great.  It will probably be a long time before I can eat salad again. With the LapBand it took over a year before I could eat any beef that wasn't chop meat. Steve never had any problem eating steak so maybe I will be able to enjoy it after my RNY too!

Tomorrow I am going over to Heather's apartment but I am bringing soup with me.  She has SF chocolate pudding so I will be in business! Liquids are a big pain but anything is worth it to have my surgery. Only four days of liquids and then my surgery...

I have a problem with steak still.  Fresh cooked I can eat, but not reheated.

Say, where is Charlie Brown's?

Did you ever hear of Bronco Charlie's?  Used to be out toward Sayville.  My grandfather used to take me there twice a year.  What a treat it was.

Charlie Brown's is in Holtsville by the Island 16 Cinemas.  It's only been there for the last couple of years.  They have the best salad bar! 

I have heard of Bronco Charlie's but I have never eaten there. They closed up a number of years ago.

With my lapband I had lots of problems with dry or reheated food.  I'm really hoping that I have better luck with the RNY.  My husband still has problems with chicken if it is dry. I'm just hoping for the best...

Wishing you lots of good things and days Marcia ... I had RNY 5 years ago and never had much of any problems other than cant do sugar WHICH IS A GREAT THING or carbs to much .
I still have to pick and choose and exercise but what thin person do we know who doenst other than THE LUCKY ONES :)

These pouches are all different. I haven't found any food, other than my one try eating  a chocolate chip cookie, that bothers me. The bigger issue is the altered sense of taste. Some foods no longer have any appeal or the smell alone bugs me.

4 days of liquids isn't too bad. We had 2 weeks. All worth it to have WLS.

We shall start warming the losers bench for you.

I think that I had more problems with eating having a lap band.  My husband can eat anything other than too dry chicken.  Will I ever stop wanting ice cream????

My doctor said I only had to do 4 days of liquids because I was already used to it from the band.  I needed to go on 3 days of liquids after every fill and I had 18 of them! He said it is more to get you used to eating that way than any other reason.  We both had 2 weeks of liquids before out surgeries in 2006.

I am ready to join you on the losers bench!

I remember Bronco Charlie's! I was raised in Bay Shore and went there once with my parents. Great place. Sorry to hear that it closed though. I know my mom used to go there allot for school functions when she taught in Sachem school district.

I live in the Sachem School district and my daughter graduated from Sachem High 10 years ago.

Marcia, that isn't bad for the liquid diet. I had to do 2 weeks too. That first week on liquids I had a birthday party at one of the world's best Mexican restaurants and then the next day I had a baby shower with 3 or 4 tables full to capacity of food. I sat at the birthday with my Crystal Light and then at the shower with Crystal Light and pudding and jello. People just thought that I was having a test. I guess in a way I was -  I was testing my will power and I won!!!

Congratulations on the new surgery. I know it is going to work well.
