Good morning George and Friends!

I'm looking forward to the Mouthwatering Monday posts!  What a great idea to have one topic per week.  Yes, now I'm very curious about your recipe - you stinker!  I can always be tempted by recipes and cookbooks.  Our mailman was delivering our mail yesterday.  He waited to cross until I pulled into the driveway.  I told him even though he brought me bills, I wouldn't run him down.  He looked at me and said, "I bring you lots of cookbooks too!"  He knows me!

One of my sisters and her husband go to an annual balloon fest in Natchez, MS.  Well, they go almost every year.  They've been up several times, and even help the ground crew with the ropes.

Have a great day,
Debbie

I'm home with a doozy of a headache.  I thought I would check OFF and take some liquid Tylenol and see if I can sleep this one away.

I had a great weekend. My grand kids stayed over (9 and 13).  We went shopping on Saturday and Sunday.  For the first time I think I made them tired!  My granddaughter kept asking how my back was, and for the first time in years I can walk without hanging on the shopping cart and with no pain!  I had to stop once in the mall on Sunday and sit down, but it was because my side hurt.

Tomorrow night I'm taking them out for their Mom's birthday.  She would have been 30.  Its a tradition I'm trying to start; celebrating her birthday and when she passed (that's the hard one).  She loved seafood, so I'm taking them to a "fancy" seafood place.  I went on line to check the menu to see what I can have.  The crab cakes off of the appetizer menu looks tasty and about the right portion.  I really want lobster, but I have a feeling that the granddaughter might want that while the grandson will want dungenes crab; and I'm not sure if the band will tolerate lobster or not and I don't want to spend the $ if it is a no go.

Everyone have a great day!

Hi George and my OFF family:

It's nice to see the sun shine again. I thought for sure we were getting rain after waking with a headache yesterday, but nope, no rain ... my accuweather body was wrong this time. I was so tired yesterday ... today, however, I'm feeling pretty good.

Had a bad start to last night's work ... as I was getting ready to leave for work, putting on my jewelry, the lid to the jewelry case slammed on my finger. Ouch! It was very sore for a long time, and I had to drive to work with that and then sit there with it. I put an ice pack on it right away for a few minutes, then took it with me to work and stuck on it on the finger. Boy, it stung and the ice pack was so cold! But by the end of the night, the finger wasn't swollen and no longer hurt. So I guess the ice pack did its work.

I had one of those nights when nothing seemed to work ... couldn't get any stories to fit in the holes I had for them, so it was a longer night than usual. Then I had a full page for state news too, so a lot to do. Not that I mind doing it, but I hate getting into work the next day and seeing the whole thing ripped up and replaced (as often happens) when space is needed for local news. Plus, I had to find a spot for the breaking news on the AIG bailout (my brother works for AIG ... so we taxpayers are now paying his salary ... at least I know he still has a job!)

My cleaning lady was here last night and I came home to a nice surprise ... she cleaned out the mess I have in the garage. She picked up and broke up the boxes, so now I have lots of room in the garage. I hardly recognized it. How nice it was to come home to!

I called DTE Energy's appliance repair service yesterday (the first day I could use it) and am supposed to get a call today about fixing my dryer ... they said anytime between 8 and 5 ... no call yet! The only call I got so far was a call about a timeshare ... like I could really visit a timeshare in Orlando on what I get from the half paycheck I have.

George, don't know that I make a lot of beef recipes ... I usually do "dumping" ... you know, dump a can of tomatoes, tomato sauce, paste, some garlic, etc., for chili or spaghetti sauce ... but when you get around to baking or chicken recipes, I'm in ... but I'll see if I can find something for beef. I'm not really much of a cook. More of a microwave heater of frozen foods; but I do like to bake.

Well, have a good day.

Hi Everyone, I like the idea of the recipe thread. It'll be immediately suited to our needs and taste tested by some great friends.
Worked Monday 15hrs, Tuesday 12hrs now off today and tomorrow. I'm using today to catch up on rest. Had the long mtg in Madison for contract negotiators this past Sunday.
Management has sent for a negotiator from DC to do their bidding. Well, we have 11 very passionate workers that will be fighting for what we need. Should be interesting. Right now it looks like if management doesn't bend, we will be striking at the end of Oct. I'd like to have my surgery by then so I can take vacation and sick time during that turbulent time and still get paid. I'm calling my surgeon's office today to see if they sent off my info to my insurance...they said they need a wk to compile all the info. I'm hoping since I lost 30# since April doesn't keep me from having surgery. Had a poor food day on Sunday...everyone at the mtg ordered subs for lunch...they had no salads or other choices available. I ordered tuna and thought I could find a spoon or fork in the union bldg but no...and I didn't have any of my little forks with me so I said to myself that I'd eat only alittle of it....I ate the whole thing in a matter of minutes. Then I was hungry 30min later...the carb monster strikes..Well I got myself back on track when I got home but that sub made me feel yukky. I haven't had bread like that in many months.
Enough of me....
Have a great day everyone!!!

Alice:

Bread is not evil ... it will not kill you. Even after surgery, you can have bread. But try to make it whole wheat. Some people after surgery find they can't eat bread but it's OK to eat it if it doesn't bother you. But like I said ... it's not evil ... good carb breads like whole grains are good for you.

You sound like a pro .. Your doing a fantastic Job, thanks for starting the thread. My Ex and I went to one of those presentations  one time cnat for the life of me remember where it was, maybe in the mountains of New Mexico. But we did get some cool stuff. The sales man about peed his pants I was taking notes and sounding excited, He just knew he had a sale. Then at the end I said, we will have to go home and think about it, He threw down his clip board and says no one buys if they think about it,, too funny.
I had an interesting encounter this morning, opened the garage door and was face to face with a skunk!! Dont know who ran faster. He ran right into a pile of camping supplies, I went around to the back of the garage and started banging on the wall. He did run out of the garage, nothing like a skunk encounter to get the blood flowing.
I went to get in my car after work Monday and had locked the car.. and had no door key. I was so mad at myself. I went to a display we have with all the bus schedules on it. and just got more upset, I could  not figure out what route to take, by now I'm crying and beside myself. I said I make my kids face consequences , so I must too, I walked home . 5 miles. I hoped it would take me about an hour, took me over 3, pure torture. I walked through some very bad parts of town. Some man kept driving by and honking, I think he was trying to pick me up,, NO WAY,, Then I walked all the way through down town, got to the point where I had to stop at every bench and rest. Called my son when he got home from work and asked him to take me back to get my car, OHHH he was mad at me for walking. I have this thing lately where I keep losing keys and it is making me NUTS.

Too bad my DS, the locksmith, is so far from you (he's here in Michigan), he'd have had your car door unlocked
in 15 seconds!!! He has this nifty new tool that does it.

Sorry you had to walk so far and glad nobody tried to
ambush you.

We had a skunk living under the deck next door, a couple years ago, and had to get a animal guy to come and trap it.....we couldn't ever go outside in the evening cause Mr. Stinky was always out there roaming around in the yard.

Hello George and OFFers,

Today I met the person who will be subbing with one of my clients. What a relief. I was worried that she might refuse to have another person work with her. The sub is an avid golfer and will take her golfing (I don't golf) so she is excited. Now to hear about a sub for my live wire client. worry, worry!

I plan to take the week off before surgery. No pay since I'm part-time but that's okay. Too many tiny details to take care of.

Annette
