Good morning George and Friends!  George, what a lovely tribute to your internet friend!

Woke to a wonderfully cool, almost fall morning - 70 degrees, slight breeze!  There's still a lot of flooding in SW LA.  My prayers for those who are having to deal with the aftermath of Gustav and Ike.  Our son, who lives north of us has water in his subdivision, but thankfully none in any of the houses.

Not much else going on.  Take care,
Debbie

Good Morning George and My OFF Family!

That is pretty nice what the discussion board did in memorian to to your friend. . .

I'm taking a quick minute to say hi, as I have lots of work to do, a real treat for me as generally I am not that busy at work, but with my co-worker out, her people and my people need a helping hand and I'm sure my work day is going to fly by today!  I recently was assigned two new people, so hopefully that will make a difference, though my department is still slow and with the financial markets crashing all about us, not sure that things are going to get better anytime soon, but thankfully, at least for now, I have a job, which means I have a paycheck and can continue to pay my mortgage.

Well I have an idea and when I have a minute I will get it up and running. . .  the idea is that we should have a weekly recipe thread, where those of us that have yummy, WLS friendly recipes can post one as a way to share different ideas for those of us with any desire to cook and learn new and yummy things to eat. . .  I have a few, though I don't have the breakdowns, but it's pretty obvious that they are healthy choices, so I think I'll try to post it tomorrow. . .  hey anyone can do it, just thought it would be a nice idea. . .

Well hope each of you have a great day and I'll be checking in later to see how everyone is doing!

Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts, Laureen

I am so glad you got the idea implanted in our heads.  I like the idea of a weekly thread, since there is the recipe forum available.  It will be nice to see what us "old folks" do with this.

Hi George and my OFF family:

The chicken parmesan sounds good ... post the recipe. If it's easy enough, I'd make it. more than a few steps, and I'm outta there. But I like crockpot cooking ... it's usually pretty easy. I use boneless skinless chicken thighs, though ... not as dry.

I was sleeping well until 9:30 this morning when Diva decided to do her wind sprints through the bedroom and knocked the phone off the dresser and woke me up. Typical Diva! Then at 10:30, a robocall woke me up ... "We wanted to talk to you about your current credit card ..." I don't have credit cards ... I'm in bankruptcy. I didn't listen to the rest of the call. Well, it was time to get up anyway. But I was fighting a bit of a headache ... we must be getting another storm ... head and neck hurt, back hurts and of course, the knee hurts. It's the accu-weather body! I know more than the weather guys know.

My boss is on vacation this week, so someone else is setting things up for me at work, and she isn't quite as thorough (well, no one is as thorough as Andy!). So I have to do a few extra things and sometimes I have to write myself notes to remind myself to put the Dilbert cartoon on the jump page ... Andy generally does that for me ... we can't forget Dilbert!

Not much going on here. It's sunny for once but some clouds like there will be rain ... we have had a lot of rain and there are flood warnings along the Grand River, which is just saturated from the weekend storms.

Well, I guess I should go exercise. Haven't done that in a few days. Have a good day.

Good morning, George and all my OFF family.

So far today it has sucked the big one. I just got into a fight on the phone with the apartment manager. She is Bill's cousin's daughter and she thinks that what ever she says is the gospel. Well, we got into it because I called and left a message that I was still waiting for the faucet in the tub to be fixed. I had been asking about it for over 3 months and now it is not dripping but streaming now. I said that I am not sure why they want me to beg to get it repaired but that I would call every day if that would get it done. She called me and told me not to call and leave nasty messages like that any more. She doesn't want to start her day with that stuff. UHHHH......you called me at 11 this morning, and the office is suppose to open at 9. Just starting your day???????? I told her that I am tired of begging for over 3 months to get things done around here. Then I got to listen to how much her utilities cost her and how her tub leaks just like mine. I told her that I get pink bacteria in the tub because it is constantly wet. She told me that it is strange that I get that because she doesn't. Finally I told her that the conversation was upsetting me and I wasn't going to talk any longer. I told her that I would never call her again and then hung up. She told me that she had people who had leaking ceilings and had to take care of that. I talked to Trudy and told her that and she said that she asked Richard, who came and changed the furnace filter this morning, if there was any water damage and he told her no. BUT....Trudy told me not to mention anything that she has said to me. HMMMMMMM.......gets you to wondering doesn't it? I called the boss over Reba in Indianapolis and I got his voice mail and left a message. He is suppose to call me back. Now Bill is saying one thing and then he turns around and says the opposite. I told him that he does that so he can't take responsibility for anything. He can say one thing and then if I do it he can come back and say that he said the opposite. I am suppose to never listen to him and I told him that is why. I do one thing and it's wrong and if I do the other that is wrong too. I can't win no matter what the h3ll I do around here. I finally told him to leave me alone and not to talk to me. Then I told him I was tired of being married to a 10 year old. That is how I feel at this time. I am on my own. Now if she evicts us I am going to be to blame for it.

I guess I have went on about that for too long. So I am off to something else now.

I think that idea about a recipe thread each week is a great idea. I would be willing to do it if anyone wants me to. I collect recipes and cookbooks and I am putting one together for my church too. I would love to do it if you want me to. We could do it one each week and see how it goes. So....what day is the best for everyone?

I better get going. I am sending lots of love and big old hugs to go with it. I am hugger and I have been told that I give the best ones that some have had. I always said that when I die I want a table at the head of my casket with Hershey Hugs on them with a sign that says "One last hug from Brenda" on it. I am sending prayers up for everyone and special ones for those in need of them. I am sending a welcome to all our newcomers and for those going in for surgery you have prayers for a good one and a speedy and pain free recovery.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

I like the idea of a recipe thread.  One day a week and one recipe per person.  This way it gives it a chance to go on and on.  If someone posts 10 or 20 recipes, the thread is less likely to be read.  I would rather see variety from a variety of people.

Maybe we could do a different theme each week.  Your favorite chicken recipe, beef, turkey, desert, etc.
