What's new MONDAY????
I don't want to get into the habit of doing this. I don't want you to think I am trying to take over.
Just that today I heard some sad news. The world has lost a friend I never met. I post on another discussion board, have been doing so for about 15 years or more. This gentleman posted often and never had a cross word to say about anyone. He did a lot of reading. These past months he has been suffering from what was originally thought to be Nile Disease, but later found to be malignant liver cancer. The docs could do nothing for him except tell him to try to enjoy life while he can. He lasted about 100 days from diagnosis. He left the world in his sleep, with no real pain over his last days.
On a better note, Ike wreaked havoc on the coast, but most of the folks I know came out okay, with just property damage. Property can be replaced.
Mary and I did not get to the movies Saturday, both of us were too tired. But we did everything else on our list.
Have a good day.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Good morning George! Sorry to hear about the death of your friend. Cancer can be so cruel.
Glad that you accomplished the things on your list this weekend!
No real news to report from my part of the world. I spent the weekend worrying about friends and family in Texas - haven't gotten a report from everyone but I'm assuming all is well.
Ike was not much of a gentleman, was he? Sending positive thoughts out to all of you who are still dealing with his aftermath.

Hi my OFF family:
Boy, two people beat me here ... other people are up early (late, however you want to put it).
I was sleepy for a few minutes and started to doze off while watching SportsCenter, then woke up ... then I couldn't get to sleep at all. for some reason my shoulder was hurting me ... and of course my knee. So I got up, had some milk and watched TV for a while. Now I'm starting to feel a little sleepy.
Don't know what's bothering me ... maybe my talk with my friend Margie. She is still shredding stuff from the newspaper office she and her husband had and she is finding out things that she wished she hadn't found ... like evidence of another affair. I guess I should have been prepared for this ... I mean, he had one affair when they were first married and she was pregnant with the second child (he was screwing a 16-year-old ... he was in his early 20s at the time). But this one was not long after she was recovering from ovarian cancer. She knew something was up when she got an STD ... she found more evidence, though, in financial records. She had a good cry on the phone with me. Man, it makes me like Wally a lot less. And like I said, Wally helped me a lot in my career. But he hurt Margie a lot, and he hurt his children a lot. Maybe that's what I have on my mind. He's even hurting Margie after his death (he's been gone four years now ... or is it 3 ... can't remember).
Spent most of the day watching baseball/football ... the White Sox won a hell of a game ... had a 7-0 lead and then blew it but won on a pinch-hit grand slam 11-7. So it was a good/bad game ... good for the hitters, bad for the bullpen. Made 24 blueberry muffins ... they came out good ... nice and brown and tasty too. I think this is my best batch.
Well, I'm starting to get very sleepy. I'm sorry about your friend, George. I had a friend in South Dakota who was diagnosed with lung cancer ... a nonsmoker ... who went in less than a month. Very sad. She was my age.
Have a good day.

Eileen, your friend Margie is in my prayers. It has to be devastating to her to be finding all of the stuff that she is. I just couldn't imagine it. It is like he had a whole second life. You sometimes wonder how people can do things like this and no one know about it. Life can be very shattering at times.
good morning-i guess..i am the one who hates mondays......george, thnx for starting the thread-don't worry! we won't think you're taking over!! used to be someone did it everyday AND recapped what had been said the day before-then we move dto taking turns for a week at a time..so-nope-you're good!!!
it's hard to deal with when we learn of someone's passing or a round of bad things happening-even if we haven't met in person--there are those we "meet" thru the net about whom we do care! this group is an example of same....when i die i pray for it to be "in my sleep"....
we got a deal yesterday! whooo hooooo--went to lowe's to buy paint for the front of our house- house is sided on 3 sides and has wood on two big portions of the front and some brick..we decided to change the color-thinking that the very dark brown dates the house- and they had a 5 gal bucket marked down from $86 to $60-happened to be one of the colors we liked..hmmmm...so we end up paying $10.00 for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's right-they marked it down twice yesterday just to get it gone!!!! and assured us we can get more-tho full price of course!- if we need more.....
today will be my write up at work....and i am needing to work extra hours to make up for friday's absence...so it will seem like a long week...
michael does the halflytly thing today to prepare for colonoscopy tomorrow...
haven't gotten an update since saturday nite on stepdaughter and her twins in texas..am presuming no news is good news right now..tho, sure they don't have power ....
prayers going out to those in ike's wake and of course to all of my OFF family...and hugs.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Thanks for getting us started, George....we don't really care who starts the thread, and you are certainly doing a fantastic job....we love hearing from you. Sorry about your friend .... cancer is so awful - we need to find a cure.
Well, it finally stopped raining here in southwest Michigan
late yesterday afternoon.....I've heard estimates of upwards of 10-15 inches of rain.....I've never seen it come down for three days straight and so heavy...It's cooler this morning and supposed to be a nice week. Our county fair
was to start yesterday (naturally) but can't see how they were able to have anyone there with all the rain.
Steve and I are planning to leave early Friday morning now. I am starting to throw some things into the suitcase......I am so excited -- please pray for us to have a safe journey.....I know we will have tons of fun.
Off to work today....will be good to get out of the house.
Linda in Phoenix, we're all glad you are starting to recover
from your episode...sorry about the bonus, that really hurts. Keep drinking and eating a few soda crackers.
Continued prayers for all those affected by that nasty Ike.
We actually had tornado warnings here over the weekend
but nothing happened here in Sturgis, but PawPaw, Mich. got hit pretty hard.....it's north farther.
Have a blessed day all my OFF friends,
Pat R.

Done! Your Ticker:
Margo, that was a really good deal that you got on your outside paint. You sure can't beat that deal with a stick. lol I am glad that it fell into your lap and you got the deal.
I am praying for your step daughter and her twins. Like you I am hoping that no news is good news and the reason that you haven't heard is because of the power outages that they are having right now. I pray that you soon hear from her and all is well. I know how waiting can be. Time seems to go so slowly when waiting.

Good Morning George,
I am not going to be liking today. I either have to work a split day or 11 hours. We have a new person starting and I may have to leave her by herself for 2 hours. I am reluctant to do that.
She is a rehire and has a history of not showing up. Maybe she wont show up!!!!! I dont know why the rehired her. But I will go with the flow.
Nothing going on here today but work.
Carla
George,
We are happy to see you first thing in the morning. I am sorry about your friend - sad to lose someone special in our lives.
My weekend was filled with puttering. No heavy work, just those odds and ends often put off. The linen closet is always interesting. The cats love to climb in there and knock the stacks of linens on the flooor. Eventually the king size and queen size sheets are all scrambled together. I finally got smart and put the sheets in separate closets.
That was the extent of my exciting weekend. Sorting linens - gee, I am so easily amused
