What's new Saturday!

Ha! I made it here first! I was checking something online and was going to get a snack before I finished watching the news, but I thought I'd post.

Some kind and mysterious friend sent me a copy of the OFF directory and $24 in the mail today .... hmmm, wonder who it could be? Thank you, mystery friend. It said it was for coffee. I always welcome coffee donations. There was no return address and the postmark was a bit smeared, so I couldn't tell where it was from. I will have to use all my investigative skills to find out. I sure appreciate the money and gesture.

We had a busy night at work tonight, with two reviews coming in late, plus late updates on Ike and the California train wreck. Our crew was pretty good tonight, even with the one guy who sometimes drives up crazy. He was lower-key than usual, which was good. Jeff, our Web guy, bought us pizza, too, so that helped. I picked up my migraine meds on the way into work and took one before I left the store; by the time I started on my page, my headache was gone and I was starting to feel better. I think if I hadn't taken an Imitrex it would have been a very long night.

Well, it's still raining here; I hope the day is better; I'd like to go to a movie; still have to go get birthday cards. Have a good Saturday.

Hi Eileen and OFF pals,
I'm getting ready for bed- just thought I'd check in. Tomorrow I'm going with some TOPS friends and my daughter to see Romeo and Juliet. We have season tickets each year and enjoy the plays very much. It's an hour or so drive into Sonora. We have lunch and make a day of it. My TOPS group is very special.
Today I went with my mom to the bank. She is 82 and she had some illness last month so she is making sure that I can get into her bank accounts if she becomes very ill or dies. I need to get a power of attorney made up I think too. I looked online and it kind of looks like a racket. I thought there were forms that you could get free that just had to be filled out and notarized. Anyone know about these things?
I'm getting sleepy- time to "hit the hay"! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Julia - hope you enjoy the play....sure sounds like fun.
I think your best bet on getting power of attorney for your Mom is to go to a lawyer -- then you know it is done correctly. They shouldn't charge too much for that. I did
it for my Mom and the attorney even came to her home.

Hi Julia,
I mistakenly sent my answer to you to Susan. Please see my reply to her in regards to the DPOA stuff. Sorry.

Julia, I posted on my spot about the POA in case you would like to see what I wrote. I thought of it there and just wrote about it.

Julia,

I hope you and your friends have a good time at the play. I think out here you can download a form from the state and have it notarized without going to an attorney ... I keep meaning to have that done and have my brother sign it so in case something happens to me I have someone in charge, since I have no spouse.

I worry about my mom, too, she's 84, but I know my older brother Ed is in charge of just about everything for mom ... I'm sure she has already given him her power of attorney. She still has all her faculties, although sometimes we worry about her because her hands tremble so. But I know she knows her limitations.

I was laying in bed and the leg was aching like crazy.... so I got up and walked around and that makes it feel better.... and sitting here in a regular chair stretching the thigh muscle feels a LOT better!

I went out to the usual Friday night outing with the inlaws... I think that was a bit much... and I couldn't sit in the chair for very long... when I stretched out my leg the waitress seemed determined to kick it, step on it, or trip over it... 3 times... finally we got a chair from another table to act as one of those orange plastic traffic cones to protect my leg... I kept having to stand up though... I ordered something called "chicken fried chicken" and it sucked... they covered it in gravy... bleeech... so I ate the macaroni and cheese and corn and had some salad..

Physical Trainer and the home nurse were here Friday afternoon... got new marching orders from the PT... slightly different from the ones I got in the hospital... and nurse put a MUCH smaller dressing on the knee so I got some freedom of movement... I did a couple hours on the automatic knee bender machine... and got an angle of 100 degrees so that is good...

Anyway, I am on my own today... wife goes back to work... Thursday and Friday I worked on getting independant... I can get up and down, walk around with a cane or walker, and get in and out of bed and go to the bathroom by myself so I am ready....

Hope y'all have a good day... gonna go watch how Ike is doing... he needs to take a long walk of a short pier... and go away...

You are doing well, Marc. I didn't get out until about two weeks out, when I got my staples out. But then I live alone and had to wait until someone came around and took me out. And then it was in February, too, and we were having big snowstorms and lots of wind. Nasty, nasty weather. Good time to stay inside. Got a lot of cabin fever, though.

I did not have the CPM (knee bender machine); I often wonder if that would have made a difference for me ... but I have great range of motion, just a lot of pain.

Hope your recovery continues to go well. Keep up with the PT and take your pain meds on a regular schedule so you don't have pain.
