early but: Hurricane Ike Shout out please

i am aware that Ike isn't "at" land yet--please tho-let us know when you can

i just now spoke with stepdaughter who is in spring, texas...they are watching the tall pines sway and it's already windy...she says the sunset is actually very pretty right now but has her "plan" se****er /food/candles etc....

i know this post may seem early but i also know that we will want to know you all are ok as soon as you can let us know!!!!

We've been dealing with Ike since yesterday.  High winds and tidal surge have low-lying areas flooding.  The wind made it very difficult to hold on to the steering wheel yesterday on the way home from work, this moring we had the addition of rain to the wind, and this afternoon, the wind was even worse, luckily no rain on drive home.  By the time I arrived home, my hands hurt from grasping the steering wheel so tightly.  Several areas without power again.  Ours flickered this morning at 5:30 when I was taking a shower.  I knew I could finish the job as I've done it so often, I know where all the parts are and what to do with them.  LOL  It was the thought of staggering back to the bedroom nekkid and trying not to fall down the flight of stairs.  Thank heaven the lights only flickered!  HAHA!

It's expected to be pretty bad here. Seven to 10 inches of rain in some areas. Man, in California I don't think I saw many years where we had 10 inches in for the whole year. Our total for the year here is now around 45.  The family in San Diego wishes I'd send some their way, and we sure would like to.

Gas has gone up 45 cents a gallon....don't know yet what it is this a.m..  Some stations were running out last evening, so thankfully I topped off while I had a break yesterday. We're in pretty good shape for an emergency....flashlights, batteries, bread and PB.
