I am Below Goal??!!!!
Thanks, Maggie,
I know those stalls are trouble sometimes, but with this WLS it's a bit harder to give up as your new tummy makes it harder to just go stuff yourself, kinda like getting married, makes it harder to just walk away, have to work at it to get it undone...you can; it's just harder. Same with WLS. You can give up but it's a bit harder....
Take Care,
Cheryl

Cheryl, I am so glad that you are where you are. I know that you worked hard to get there and it happened to a wonderful sister. You shared your thoughts and feelings just fine so don't worry about that. We are all on the same wave length here so we got it.
I have taken what you have gone through when I hit my stalls. And yes, they are there whether we like it or not. We just have to accept them for what they are~temporary stalls. They are not permanent and so we just have to keep doing what we know works~using our given tool to the best of our knowledge and knowing that "this too shall pass".
Again, congratulations!!!1

Congrats, Cheryl!
You are right, it is hard to compare yourself to others. Just when you said you were a slow loser, I looked at your surgery date and said to myself, "She's a slow loser? She's only year out and she's below goal ... it took me three years!" But then again, I had more to lose. Everybody loses at their own rate; everyone's body is different. Our age, our medications, our lifestyle, our families' demands (or lack of families, in my case) all play a part. Our metabolisms are different, and that affects how we lose too. We all started at different weights, and that matters, too. Some of us were able to manage to eat more (me) than others; others couldn't keep down a lot of food so lost more initially, then started to get down more food later. This all matters in the grand scheme. And we all learn lessons at a different pace. It's funny, but until I had this surgery I hadn't realize that eating smaller portions would result in weight loss ... duh! That's the most important thing! But it didn't sink in until I had surgery. If only I had gotten that through my thick skull I would have lost without surgery! Oh well, better late than never.
Cheryl, you are a true success story. Keep up the good work. The hard part starts now, keeping it off (believe me!). It's a real challenge.

Thanks, Eileen,
Yes, I guess at first glance it looks like it may have been fast, but as a "lightweight" (which is a bizarre term as I definitely was not "light") relative to others journeys (yes, I know I shouldn't compare) it did take a while for those lbs to go...never lost lots at a time...but amazingly it finally all came off and I feel like it was a miracle. I had been fat for forever and thought it was just going to be my lot in life.
I am again so thankful for this surgery, for my husband who thought is was an investment in my health and lovingly supported me never making me feel guilty or pressured as we used retirement money, and for all of you that got me through some very down times.
Take care,
Cheryl
