Thank-God for the pain meds.. Keep that knee moving. Do you have the bending machine?? I honestly think that is the number1 thing that makes a difference in a successful recovery.. Hang in there you will feel like a new man in a couple of weeks.. Blessings

Glad you are home Marc.  Take it easy and don't try to do too much until the dr says it is ok.  Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

Take your drugs, do your PT, and you'll hopefully be OK ... better than me, I hope.

Glad to know you are home, Marc.  Knee replacements are never easy, but it will be worth while when you can move again.  My brother-in-law had his replaced recently and he has moaned and groaned the entire time and doesn't *like* PT.
Do what you have to do to get functional again.  It will pay off....  Nothing wrong with taking the meds either.

Marc, I am so happy that you are home and I am sure much more comfortable. Just take it easy and don't try to climb any mountains today. That is one of the reasons that you got the pain meds. So make sure to take them. Just a bit each day more than the last will make it get back to 100% before you know it.

Hi Marc,
Congratulations on your knee replacement.  Take your pain meds because that will allow you to do your Physical Therapy which is critical to recovery.  My husband had his right knee done August 12.  He is up to 110 degree bend but not able to use the muscle to lift his leg that well yet.  Since it is his right leg, he can't drive until he can lift that leg with skill to go from gas to brake.  He is working hard at it because at four weeks out he is starting to get cabin fever.  He got this crazy idea to step down his pain meds himself.  He was an emotional wreck.  He called me at work to cry and tell me how much loved his new recliner that had been delivered that day.  He was bawling like a baby saying "I love it.  Thank you so much."  I'm like, are you OK?  Then he calls my son, again crying, that he is worried he will break down in front of the grandkids.  I came home from work and said get back on those meds now!!!  Problem solved. The nurse then told him the right way to reduce his meds without having withdrawal causing those emotional swings.  He is still taking one hydrocodone every four hours.  Moral of the story, take your meds and let your doctor manage when you should come off of them.
I hope you have a lot of projects lined up that you can do sitting with your leg up.  Maybe some carving?  We got wireless and a laptop the week before his surgery so he could be online to pass the time away.
Good Luck,
Bev

Glad to hear the surgery went well. My hubby had it done in april this year, a total knee replacement..   The important thing is to keep moving, dont' let that knee freeze up. and keep taking those pain meds!

He had to walk, with his walker, ever hour about 30 feet or so.   It was very hard at first, but now just 4 1/2 months later he's walking up and down stairs, going for long walks, and doing anything he wants.  He did physical therapy for about 6 weeks too and that he said was key to his success.
