Question for you...

I am in high anticipation of my upcoming surgery and for the past almost 8 months the whole process of getting to this point has consumed a big portion of my life.  I am now worried that once I have the surgery I'm going to feel a let-down or some sort of post-surgical depression.  I don't know, am I being silly?  My husband says I always have to find SOMETHING to worry about... haha... but once it's over, then I know I'm on the road to wellness but yet all of this anticipation and waiting... I don't know.  It sounds dumb to me but yet I keep wondering about it.

How did you all feel after surgery? Emotionally I mean?

For me, I was on a big high after surgery ... but I know there are some who have a lot of emotions because when you are losing quickly, your body is dumping fat, which holds estrogen ... and we know what that can do ... makes you very moody. So don't be surprised if you want to cry at times.

As I remember, I was so high on life and myself after I had surgery. It seemed to have change the way that I looked at myself and at others. I guess it kind of helped to make me appreciate myself more, I felt more self assured. There was times that I was kind of down and cried but I think for the most part it was a positive experience~and now? WOW!!! I love me, others and life in general more than I ever thought that I could or would. Just remember to think positive and you will be positive!!!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

I'm getting close as well and I've thought the same thing but....I'm going to be thankful every day that I'm on the "other side" and on my way to the "new me". It's a new life start, another chance that many don't get. I'm going to write myself some positive feedback cards to post around my home and in my car. Their going to remind me that I've come a long way and I'm going to be positive and become the person I've been looking for all my life. It's time for me and I'm not going to feel at all selfish.
Lots of thoughts must be racing thru your mind but that's just nerves. I'll be doing the same. I'm going to start writing my index cards very soon so they are ready when I get home from surgery. (I haven't been approved yet but I'm staying positive).
We'll be here for you.

I am a big worrier!  lol     I can't say that surgery has fixed my worrying.  I've just turned it to other things.  How will I get my exercise in.  What am I going to eat etc.  Did I get enough protein, how much water have I had and oh did I take all my vitamins.
You will be fine you are not being silly it's all normal.
Best of luck to you!

That's all really great to hear!  I have to admit that just knowing I'm having this and that it will change my life has changed my attitude and my outlook SO MUCH.  I am so grateful and I feel so happy... so much more than I ever did.  I also feel like I want to LIVE life more than ever.  I just don't want those good things to go away I guess and knowing that it can only get better is simply amazing.  I will try not to worry and think about it but just focus on everything that is positive.  :o)

Thank you thank you. I'm getting really excited... one more week and I start the liquid diet... so two weeks from today. I went to a support group meeting last night for bariatric pre-ops and post-ops and got a lot of positive feedback and information.  Between that group and this group, I'm really lucky and blessed.  ;o)
