Whats new Saturday? (11:30pm Friday night!)

Hey ya'all!  Whats new?  LOL!  I decided hey, it's 11:30pm and we can start just a tad early!  I promise to type really SLOW so that it will be closer to midnight ok?
Actually I'm heading to bed soon as I have basket guild tomorrow about an hours drive from me.  Also tomorrow afternoon my son is coming over to help
TAAAAADAAAAAAA get the bathroom back in business!  The GROUTY job is done and I must say looks pretty good.  AHHH I can just picture myself in the bathtub tomorrow night with a wonderful bubble bath and the candles softly glowing with the reflection in the gleaming tile....yeah, maybe I am carrying it just a bit far......BUT it will be nice to have it more done than not for a change!
Gary and I went to dinner and then to a movie, saw the dark knight.  It was pretty good I guess.  Jury is still out on that one.  We both want to see Mama Mia so I imagine in a few weeks we'll do it again.  He's a nice guy, we've been friends for a long time.  No romance involved, just enjoy hanging out once in a while.
I know it was only a 4 day work week but it seemed like a LONG 4 days didn't it?  TGIF, but of course the weekends go so quickly that my boss and I say goodbye on the weekends as see you in 10 minutes!  Well, my slow typing didn't do much good, it's now 11:42pm, but I'm hitting the hay anyway.  Have a great Saturday all!

Still Friday on the west coast and I'm about ready to call it a night too.  The short work week did take rather long to produce a weekend.
Good going on the bathroom.  You'll be admiring your handiwork with bubbles and candles before you know it.  I'm plodding along with my renovations here and have several unfinished projects to work on.  But company is coming tomorrow so I probably won't make much headway in that regard this weekend.
That's ok...you know what they say about all work and no play.

Debbie,

Its 1:37am here and for the first time I was going to start the What's New for Saturday but you beat me to the punch. I can't sleep again tonight. I just took 1/2 of a Tylenol PM  and I have a nice cup of decaf tea so the tylenol should kick in soon.

Good to hear your bathroom is almost done. I love doing projects around the house. My husband is all thumbs and more of a computer type guy than a handyman. I usually do all the painting and general fix-it type stuff around here, unless its something I know I can't do then I'll hire someone.

Kids are back in the swing of things at school.  My son is now a Junior and my daughter is in 7th grade. Both quite interesting times in their (and my) lives.  I got the pre-teen thing going on with my daughter. Most of the time she is great and then she gets the girl stuff going on. Lately she is in the "I'm ugly" stage. She is a very pretty girl but she says I say that because I'm her Mom. These pre-teen years are hard. But you know they think you were never their age and don't understand.

Son is easier. He does have  the male selective hearing unless I'm telling him its time to eat or I have something to give him. Other than that, he can't seem to hear me when I tell him his room needs picked up or the litter boxes need cleaned.
Just knowing that next year he will be a Senior is already freaking me out. He and I are very close. For anyone of you that have a son, you know that the bond between a mother and son is different than it is with your daughter.

Well one of the other "children" (cats) is  throwing up in the hallway so I need to go check on him.  A mothers work is never done. No wonder I can't get any rest.

Everyone have a wonderful Saturday.

Mary:

I can relate with the cats throwing up ... I come home at night, give the cats their treats and one of them hacks them up , so I have to run around with paper towels and rug cleaner. Last night it was Scooter; usually it's Diva because she eats too fast. I have little spots all over my carpet!

Good morning Debbie and all,

An evening with Matthew and Melanie was just the pick me up I needed. It also proved this surgery shouldn't be postponed too long. By the time I left, it looked like I was smuggling a softball under my shirt. Piggy back rides made the hernia buldge waaay out.

Dave and Mary are conducting a CPR class at the school today and I am babysitting. No piggy back rides and limited lifting is my plan. We will have to find another game to fill the hours.

Have a fun filled day.

Annette, you shouldn't be lifting anything!!  Don't mess around with those hernias if they are popping.  No matter how much you love your grandchildren, please don't place yourself in a position to do further harm to yourself.  Your daughter should not be putting you in that position either.  I know you love the kids but your fun now could limit your fun with them later.... MAJORLY.

I'm just sayin....

Annette, I totally agree with Janet.....don't be lifting or
giving piggy back rides to those grands.....they know you love them and you'll just have to find an easier way to
play.....I don't want to have to visit you in the hospital
when I come out there!!!!

Be a "good" girl 'till you get those hermias repaired, OK???

Love ya,
Pat R.

Thank you Pat. I don't want our first hug to be in a hospital room either. I can easily get down on the floor and they don't need to be lifted for anything now. Matthew can lay on the floor for a diaper change and Melanie does the potty all by herself. No lifting and gentle play, I promise.

Today we played with puzzles then went outside and watched a Daddy Long Legs walk on the deck.

Kisses

Janet,
Not to worry my love - I squatted and sat on the floor with them. Neither one of them need to be lifted for anything. I positioned myself on the floor and they gathered around.

Thanks for your concern.

Annette, I am with the rest of the crowd. Don't do any of the lifting of anything, and that includes grands and groceries, while you are waiting for the surgery. You can do some majorly major (is there such words together?) damage and harm to you. You are just going to have to find another form of enjoying the grands in a grand way. I am sure that in the long run the grands are not going to remember that Grandma couldn't give them rides for a short period of time in their early lives. They will remember however that Grandma was really sick for a long time when they were young.

Just my big mouth letting everyone know my opinion..........with much love though.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
