What did everyone eat as their "last meal"???

Hi Cathy, I remember my "last meal" very well. I had went to Dr. Stanish's office and he gave me a date 10 days later. I said that I thought that I had to do a 14 day diet. He told me that it started then but then told me to start it the next day. Ella, my best friend and I had already decided that we were going to Red Robin for dinner. So were we relieved! lol We went and I had a chicken sandwich which was one of the best that I ever ate and I had 2 orders of french fries ( they give you more if you want to ). I told Ella that I was having more potatoes since that was my last meal. We laughed and when I got them I ate a bit of them but not all. They were some of the best french fries I ever ate too. It is funny how your tastes change. I use to like fish and now it is one of my favorite foods. I never liked yogurt and now I love it with Kashi Go Lean mixed in it. Things change and you never even realize it.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Sushi - California style.  I wanted eel but they didn't have it.  I don't know now if I will be able to handle rice, so I guess Sashimi for me from now on.

Thanks to all that replied; it was interesting....    I am going to have a lot of questions later on about food.   I will, of course, check with my nutritionist, but I will probably find a lot of answers on here, too.   I know that it will vary a lot, and also different people can tolerate different things.   We are all so used to eating without thinking before surgery that it will certainly take much more effort to read labels, etc.

What a fun topic!  I was working my way through the "lasts" when I had my endoscopy.  I was immediately put on a bland food diet.  I was scared that surgery would be canceled if I still had gastritis so I took my pills and skipped the good foods.

My last meal was actually White Castle hamburgers.  The are nicknamed sliders for a reason, and I thought that would help with the bowel prep.

I can't remember exactly what was on that list now, but I've had a little bit of everything except baked goods in the last year with no ill effects, except gas.

When I was in the military, everytime I went home to NY, on the way home from the airport we would stop at White Castle.  After we got done there, we went to Carvel.  Just so I could get my fix.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

What a fun question. My 18 year old daughter made my last meal very special. She made reservations at our favorite Inidan Restaurant and I had shrimp tikka masala with naan and pouri bread and a massala tea for dessert. Yum! Oh yes, and I ordered the dish medium hot which is quite spicey. It was delicious. But three days post of the thought of it  is not nearly as good.

I am PLANNING my last meal..... it will be Chinese.... crab rangoons, fried shrimp, fried rice and shrimp with lobster sauce. Until then I will continue to stick to my stage 3 diet. When I get my surgery date, I will have that one last fling

To Engel:   Well, it is too bad you didn't live a little closer to southern Indiana, because my husband and I owned a restaurant that had all of those things!!!   It sounds like your kind of food!  We closed and retired in 2002, and now we just help our son with his restaurant, which has home-style cooking, fried chicken, fiddlers, etc.
Our other restaurant was in a little tourist town called New Harmony, and people came from all over the world and we literally saw it all.  Our modest little place had several celebrities you would all know.   We had the hand dipped ice cream, old fashioned milkshakes, pie, every conceivable sandwich, fries, onion rings, and so on.   After five years, people still spot me in WalMart and beg me to reopen.   It was a great 13 years, but very hard work, and also the reason that I gained about 50 pounds!   We also made homemade fudge....   Try to do that and not sample!!!!!

I know that this post is several days old, but I just had to tell you that my "last meal" was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a big old glass of milk!
