What did everyone eat as their "last meal"???

I am sure that this question has been asked and answered dozens of times on here, but I was just wondering??   As some of you might remember about me, our family owns a restaurant, and I take the grandkids up there for lunch every day when I am babysitting during the school year.   My DIL works with the school system, so I take care of the little ones.   Even though our home style food is widely acclaimed, we ourselves, get tired of it and sometimes it hard to choose what we want.  And since I am on my last couple of days of "normal" eating, I took a long time deciding today.   I ended up picking chicken livers, which might not be everyone's choice for a "last meal", but I do love them.  By the way, can we have them later on?  I read someplace that we shouldn't eat organ meats.
But anyway, what did some of the rest of you pick for your last meal?  Just thought this might be interesting to read.

My "Last Supper" was 1 1/2lbs of king crab legs with all the trimmings!  And you know..it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be.  I think I was just ready to get this show on the road.

Hi Cathy...my last full size meal was speghetti and meatballs etc, at the Olive Garden.
You really never have to give up food...you just have to limit the amount. I choose not to eat bread, pasta, and rice but others do. Of course fried foods are out. Can't say that I miss any of it!!

Funny you should ask.  As I am writing this, I am waiting for my DH to bring mine home, as I am starting on my pre-op diet tomorrow!!!  I am having Pork Lo Mein....and I am going to eat the whole order by myself, and savor every bite...even if it makes me late to the PTA meeting tonite.

I think I might have had pizza ... It's been so long I really can't remember. I know on our program we had a two-week pre-op supplemented "fast" ... wasn't really a fast but you had to use the bariatric center's products ... it was an 800-calorie diet high in protein and included bars, shakes, fruit drinks, chili, spaghetti, soups, etc. As for organ meats, I can't remember if that's off-limits either ... never had a taste for them.

By the way, occasionally I still have pizza ... just not the whole pie anymore.

My son, Sean, who owns the restaurant, said he would eat pizza, pizza and more pizza.  By the way, I DO understand how "dirty words" are deleted here, but sometimes, like pizza, for instance, it is just plain silly!

I couldn't decide on a last meal....  I wasn't hungry.....  I ended up just snacking on dumb stuff.  Now I wish I would have.... lol  I would have had Fried chicken... corn/cob...  OH....  I did have cheesecake.  But, I find now I don't even care for the taste... mentally, yes.  The craving is just a memory of the taste that I had.  I have found new healthy foods.. some I have to be careful of....  Kashi and granola....  OMG... Yummy...   Enjoy.....  Millie

Hi Cathy

My last meal was a pint of Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream.....the whole pint!!!  I didn't have a pre-op required diet, could eat anything up  until midnight, so I had already had things that week of my surgery that I knew I wouldn't be having for a long time. But Gary wasn't home for dinner that night before surgery, so ice cream is what I had.

As far as chicken livers go, I love them, and gizzards. BUT no one should really eat organ meats, they're high in cholesterol, but once in a while won't hurt you, but I'd sure wait until you're a couple of months out to try them.

Good luck to ya!

Cathy,

I don't recall what I had before starting the 2 week liquid diet. My surgeon wouldn't consider me for surgery until I lost a whole bunch of weight so I had been on a strict plan for several months by that time. Must not have been too exciting.

As time passes you may discover your taste for once favorite foods change drastically. I used to crave, adore and consume black olives like most people eat M&M's - now they gag me. Now I want cottage cheese and Kashi.

Good luck to you. WLS is an exciting new world.

I don't really remember what I actually had for my very last meal (maybe prime rib?) but we got to go home (south Louisiana) a couple of weeks before I started that diet.  Need I say more........  I had a whole week of last meals eating things I hadn't had in years.  there was a crawfish boil, ate fried oysters and fried catfish and some more crawfish.

I love fried chicken livers.  That was a good choice.  I don't see why you can't eat them later on.  Although I have a lap band and I eat beef liver about once a week.  Good Luck with your surgery.

Hugs,   Peggy
