Of bathrooms, sleep and hearts

Hello OFF family! so, I know this is an odd subject line, but here it goes:
Bathroom update:  I now have the tub surround all grouted and I must say I see the mistakes but still think it looks pretty good!  Tomorrow after work I will grout the floor and be ready for Saturday afternoons work period with my son getting the toilet, sink, shower curtain rod, the tub fixtures and the new mirror/light hung.  Ever hopeful am I that it may be winding down NOW!
Sleep and hearts go together.  So last week I had an echocardiogram to check on heart before sleep doc would try me on provigil or ritalin to help with daytime sleepiness.  So tonight she gives me a call to touch base with me about the echo results.  Hmmm, seem to have some issues.  She probably will have me see a cardiologist but thinks it is probably from sleep apnea.  She feels I have genetic sleep apnea and even if I weighed 100# with my neck structure (it's not fat!) she feels I would still have the sleep apnea.  So we wait for my test next Friday night, but I am dead certain it's rearing its ugly head.  She also feels the sleep apnea may have caused the obesity!  She says that many people with SA are carboholics (I can relate to that!)  I also have noticed lately I am eating more carbs then I did before....hmmmmm My grandparents had it very badly before it was ever heard of, I am sure my mother has it too, although she will never admit it.  I even wonder if my fit never fat younger brother has it.  He is always sleepy and falls asleep easily.  So she feels that we treat the sa, the heart thing should improve and cardiologist will probably get another echo in 4-6 months SO if it is improving we MAY be able to start the keep me awake meds, if not more investigation.  I know the last time I used the c-pap I really could not tell much difference in quality of sleep.  I also have lots of leg movements I guess, so that may be a part of it.  Sorry to ramble on about this, I'm still thinking it out in my head.  LOL!  So I guess we wait for THE test......But like I said, I have that dull certainty in my head that it will be positive again-and I don't mean the GOOD positive!  That's my news for the day, week and year.....LOL
Hope you all have a great Thursday!  Cool down coming in for NW Ohio!  we even had a modicum of rain tonight!  we need an all nighter for several nights to begin to make up for what we haven't had in a long time.

Wooo  Hoooo   on the bathroom....  sounds like it is coming to completion.     You'll have to share pics with us......

I sure understand on the sleep apnea.  I gained quite a bit of weight due to the sleeping during the day.  It was a vicious circle.  Then I found out I was pre-diabetic and then onto full diabetic.  I felt so much better with my c-pap machine.  I was sooo surprised how the lack of oxygen affected the rest of the body.  I still use my machine but tend to take it off during the night.  I don't think I need it like I did before....    Good Luck on your tests     Millie

Thanks Millie!  I actually got the floor grouted tonight, just have to give it another quick wipe down soon and in 24 hours......yeahhhhh!
I certainly HOPE if we use the c-pap or what ever machine she reccomends, it works better this time. She's also talking about some yucky sounding insert that fit over your teeth and with a key you move your lower jaw out ever so much....sounds expensive and like something I won't like well, BUT if it makes me feel better, of course I will do it.

Debbie,

No imperfections in your work, just tell-tale signs of uniqueness. You are brave to attempt such a HUGE undertaking Dear Sister!!!!

Hmmmm - plenty of thoughts must be racing through your head. It would seem that no matter what the results may be, your doctor is on top of it. Wishing you the best.

Hugs, love and prayers

I think it may be more stupidity then bravery dear sis!  Yes, I like this doc, I liked her even before I started seeing her on a professional level.  She was one of my favorite ones to call because not only is she very good at what she does, she's smart and very personable, not usually the combination of what one sees in many physicians (OH DID I JUST saythat??????)

I hope I notice it more this time around too sister!  I think she is waiting to see how the sleep study looks before sending me to some one.  I can pretty much tell her it ain't gonna look good but I have been wrong once or twice before in my life!

Deb, kewl on the bathroom!!
On the sleep thing, damn those genes, can't escape them. Sometimes parents do not like to admit problems, they sometimes think it is their fault, I am sure you know that feeling.
I hope all goes well. Think happy thoughts!
Hugs to you!
   and a bright future!!

Thanks Linda!  Yeah, those genes get ya everytime.  I have my fair share of the bad ones from both sides!  Have a fair share of the good ones too, so I guess it evens out eh?
