Hi one and all - this is my 1st time on this forum and I am very surprised to see all the activity (pleasantly surprised).
I had RnY in 2002 and due to events beyond my control was not able to get to goal weight.  Now I am starting to put back on.  I am seeking revision surgery.  Any one out there with revision experience?
I would love to talk to anyone regardless.  This is a great site, but has been rather barren on responses.

Carolyn,

I am sorry to read about your problem. I can't imagine what would keep you from your goal weight unless it was your thyroid. What is a revision...Maybe if you explain what it is there might be someone out there that knows of someone else.

Hi Carolyn,
I am a revision from a Vertical Banded Gastroplasty to RNY. I had my revision done in 02. I am happy to say it was a true success. I have lost about 140 to 150 pounds on any given day. I think I have gained 5 to 15 pounds from a thyroid problem I am having. I have a growth on my thyroid that the Doc's are watching.
I am going to star****ching my intake of food again and see if that wont help get rid of the poundage. I think if I go back to basics for a while it will come off.

At 3 years post op is when we have a tendancy to have some re-gain start. If we don'****ch it  closely (and I didn't) then we can have a significant amount of regain. Regain doesn't mean that your original surgery won't work anymore, to the contrary, it will and does. Have you tried all avenues to trying to lose the regain? You don't say how much regain you have. Do you journal? write down everything that passes your lips? You may be surprised and find your answers in the journal.....

I once thought about revision....but so many choices and you know....the weight comes off lots slower...that rapid loss is gone now.....so I would still have to fight for every pound gone....

Don't mean to put a damper on your thoughts....just my opinion....

Barren on responses? this forum?

Thanks for all the reponses.  For those of you interested, 3 mos after I had my r n y my son died in an accident.  I died with him.  I was on the verge of accomplishing something I had wanted for years.  I was finally going to be "normal" in size.  I was sooo... happy.  Then nothing, a black hole for the rest of my life, I thought.  My perspective on life was so different.  I was concerned for my daughter as she was the one who found him and tried to give him CPR.  It was to no avail since he had probably died well before she found him but she heard gurgling and thought it would be all right of course.

He was 23 and she was 26 at that time.  My daughter loved him so much and they were my only two.  I knew how I felt but couldn't imagine what she went thru.  That was in July, time was moving unfortunately and then in March of 2003 my husband was diagnosed with gall bladder cancer.  He wasn't expected to live.  Thank god no one told us that until after that year.  He did live and has been a 5 year survivor.  At the time however, it was just another devastating part of our lives.  From what I know, less than 2% survive.

All of us have started pulling ouselves back together and have been mostly successful.   Last year my husband became very sick.  He was told because of the radiation that saved him he is now going to die without a new liver.  Of course, he will have to get to deaths door before he would qualify for one.
We have all had to come to grips with the cycle of life so to speak.  I have another opportunity in revision surgery and I'm going to seek it at all cost.  I have to be healthy for the trials to come, you see.

I will go to Mexico if I have to and pay out of pocket but I understand there is a Dr in Arizona who does revisions and I have an appointment in Michigan with a Dr on 12/19.  Wish me luck every one.

Sorry about venting my woes.  I know we all have stories.
Thanks
Carolyn
