I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I guess the Readers Digest version would be...

Protein as "normal" with us...
Limit fats as usual
Carbs - only "good" carbs, i.e. ones that don't make your blood sugar spike... low GI ratings
Water
Exercise

Yes yes yes good vibes and prayers to for you. I just got a couple South Beach Diet books, I think the program is very similar. So far all I can do is look at them.I soooo don't want to get back on the DIET wagon,,sigh. Blessings

Heya sweetie! ... great to see your pretty face smiling at me again

I hear ya about the diet thing... but I need to do something a bit more regimented than "just eat protein first" etc... I guess it is the military in me... or it's a guy thing... but I need a regimen, a list, something that says "Morning, eat this" and "Snacks, eat this, and only this" and for some unknown reason it is easier for me. Left to my own counsel, I screw things up but good!

Hey Marc,

Since I am diabetic, I have been following a program similar to that which came out of time spent with my nutritionist and testing my blood sugar.  I am not insulin dependent (tho I was when I was pregnant with my son) but I am on oral meds.  My A1C runs around 7, but I would like to get it lower.  I am also pre-op for two more weeks.  This is a great way to eat some of everything, without totally eliminating entire food groups from your diet.  Obviously, white starches raise your blood sugar, but things like whole wheat  and whole foods are not as bad.  My nutritionist gave me a trick to it...if you eat a carb, have a protein with it.  It helps slow down the glycemic reaction.  Good luck!  I think you will feel much better eating this way.  I know that I do.  And my blood sugars are way more in control, which is proof to me that it works.
