Whats New Labor Day September 1, 2008?
Good morning to all my lovelies! I hope that this labor day is one of non labor for everyone.
Today is one that I would like to just do nothing but I am planning (but that doesn't always mean anything) to pitch some of this junk. I got a paper in the door from the office the other day and they are going to be doing the apartment checks starting tomorrow. They go through each apartment and make sure that things are alright. They call them yearly checks but last year was the first one that we ever had. I just have to much junk and I informed Bill that he is helping since some of this stuff is made from him. I am sure that most of it is mine but oh well, such is life. lol
We are grilling out today. Bill is just itching to do that. It has been a while since he cooked out. As you all know he is my not so lean, not so mean, grilling machine. We are having shrimp and veggies and I have some veggies in the fridge that I am going to grill. I do so love veggies on the grill. They just taste soooo good.
The baby shower yesterday was nice. I got to visit with my cousin Dianne and that is wonderful. We were very close growing up and now with our lives in different spots we don't get to do that as often. The baby, Addison Taylor was adorable. She is so small too. Her eyes are big and bright. She watches you and one time someone said that she was so cute and she was sitting in her swing sleeping and she smiled. Dorothy, my cousin and the baby's great grandmother, said that she is a very gassy baby. I said that it wasn't gas it was a smile. I can't stand it when people say they smile because of gas. For one thing I think they are smiling because they are happy and pleased. For another thing when I have gas there is nothing what so ever to smile about. It hurts and it stinks! lol
Misty is laying by her sparkle toy and I am getting a stare. She isn't doing anything so I am sure that she is just planning something in her brain. She is something else. I never put anything over on her. She is planning on how to make my mass chaos. I don't know what I would do with out her though. This morning I got up and was in the bathroom and so we had our little "bonding" time with hugging and kissing and sweet little voices and of co use lots of petting going on. I look forward to that time in the morning.
I better get going. I have bored everyone long enough. I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are going up for everyone too. Special ones are being said for those in need of them. Have a wonderful and not laborious day today.

Good Morning -
It has been a productive weekend and hope to finish up a few more things today and finally pack for the morning - early trip to the hospital. It is the big day. Frankly, I'm trying to keep my mind off of it. I am quite worried. But enough of that.
In the past week the motor on the skylight in the bedroom died and the ceiling fan stopped working. My husband has been working very hard to get those things working. New ceiling fan is up. Love it - much nicer than the original. We tore the bed apart yesterday, vacummed the box spring and headboard and put all clean linen on. Vacuumed the window screens. He even decided that I needed to be able to watch movies....good excuse for a blue-ray player. Today we are planting mums for the fall and relaying some brick walkway. Tonight is trip to Fenway for a Red Sox game. A full day. A good day.
Hope you all enjoy the last day of the holiday weekend. For those in the south, be safe; thoughts are with you.

Good Morning Debbie G. and everyone........
I too have been watching the hurricane activity and am so glad Debbie is at a safer place!! My heart goes out to all those people...what a horrible mess they have to deal with.
Margo...I am continuing to pray for our other friend that all is well with her....bless her heart!!
Not much happeniong here today. I have done absolutely nothing for two days and today will be a repeat. I am so blessed to be able to have some me time...finally!!
I can't believe September is here already.....a few trees are starting to turn color already.....ugh!! I love the four seasons but winter is just too long here. I hated being so cold all the time last winter. I weigh even less now and will really be freezing for sure!!
Hope everyone has a great day!! Special prayers to those in need.

Hi everyone - I have a busy day ahead of me if I can get out of my pyjamas!
Classes start tomorrow at the college, and I start off the semester teaching sociology to 40 students at 8 am. I think that we will all be "up" for the first week of classes, but I know that my students will look more and more tired as the weeks pass and they jockey about their lives and school. One semester, I taught a class at 8 am, which followed "pub night" the night before. I think that I was the only one awake!
I have more work to do today to tweak my lesson for tomorrow. I try to make the first day fun, and I purchased some Hallowe'en things to pass out as prizes in the games I use to help them learn. It's good to see the students relax, and it's a nice way to start out.
I live very close to one of the "stops" on the Underground Railroad - a small village called North Buxton. Every Labour Day, they have a homecoming and people from all over the US and Canada come "home" for a weekend of celebration. Many of the slaves escaped to freedom here and after returned to their families in the US. Some stayed on and so extended families were formed. If I get my work done here, I may go out to "Buxton" for a while. The food is always so good.
Have a great day and don't "labour" to hard.

Good morning.
Here I sit, hoping I don't die today......:) Made a rack of ribs yesterday and they were great... had them last night....reheated them for later... forgot to put them back in the fridge because they were hot... went to sleep on the couch.... but it was about 10:30 last night.... and I got them in the fridge at 5 a.m. this morning when I awoke on the couch... and here it is 10 a.m. and I've just heated them again.... and eating one.... okay, two.
I'm messed around all weekend and now that I've GOT a day off...yep...gotta work.... Had 12 unsigned contracts... found FIVE I can actually work on. Agents didn't check them before sending them to me so the others are missing things.
Marti, do you check your contracts thoroughly before you let them go? You are a rarity if you do.
I can't even remember Saturday....so I guess there was no drama in my life. No drama yesterday but did mow my yard, go to William Sonoma and Central Market. Son and sister came over last night to play Farkle.
Been watching Law and Order all weekend....
Life is pretty boring around here. Wish I had more drama to share but, alas, none in this life right now.
Everyone have a good Labor Day.

I'll be laboring today as well, trying to get clutter tossed and spare room and garage organized prior to surgery. Feels kind of like nesting before labor/delivery. Got a small jump on the chores yesterday and got the outside watered.
Went to SPCA looking for a mouser for the gopher problem. Had fun playing with the cats but came home undecided. Then ran into a friend who has a good mouser who needs a home. Further evidence that the Universe unfolds exactly as it should. Hope my good dog, Carl, doesn't get too bent out of shape. He was very interested in sniffing the feline fumes on my clothing after the SPCA. He likes other animals, seems oblivious to the gophers, but will lumber after anything that runs. That reminds me...Carl needs a bath today too. Better get on it.
Warm thoughts to all, CV Linda

Hi Darlene, Thanks for your interest.
I live in Carmel Valley (CV) near Monterey so Fresno is almost three hours away. When I found out my insurance would only cover the RNY at one of their "Centers of Excellence" my local bariatric surgeon, Dr. Vierra, highly recommended Dr. Higa in Fresno. In fact he said that he wouldn't do my follow-up care if I went to any other surgeon. Maybe they're related.
Is your home town near Fresno?
