Whats New Labor Day September 1, 2008?
I don't have much news on my part, the bathroom project is moving along slowly, I plan on grouting the tub surround today and then the floor. Have to let those "cure" for 72 hours then can add in the sink, toilet, shower rod and tub fixtures. Eventually I will paint the tub white, but right now I don't care when that gets done, I just want to take a long soak in the tub someday soon!
I've been kind of down in the dumps the past few days, thinking about a problem of my own making. This too will pass.
Fell asleep on the couch in the family room, woke up cold believe it or not! So, what's new with you?

Well, batten down the hatches ol' Gus is on his way! I'm so grateful that our Debbie and her family are on, at least somewhat, safer ground. We've started to see a lot of Lousiana license plates here in Little Rock. Escapees I suspect. They said this morning on the local news that they have Medivac'd patients out of LA to AR hospitals for safety sake. As many of the AR patients they could safely discharge have been sent home to make room of the patients in need of care from the danger zone.
Jan, you're in better shape up where you are than we are. They expect 6-8 inches of rain this week here. Possibly a tornado or two. No barbecuing for us today, or any other day this week.
Hugs to all, prayers and warm thoughts to those that need them.
Love ya!
Susan
Not much happenin' here. I bought 2 new recliners Sat and after sitting in them for 2 days, I am thinking of returning them today. I can feel the board at the back of the bottom cushion. It hits my tail bone. My grandsons and DIL say they can't feel it, but I am heavier than they are and maybe it won't bother me when I lose more weight. Other than that I LOVE them, they are big, and nice for sitting in and reading. But I paid almost $500 a piece for them and I want them to be comfy for a long time. MY DIL says I should have just spent $1000 on one really good one and I would be happier. I'm still debating.
I am also tuned to the Weather channel keeping an eye on Gustav and Hannah. I pray everyone in the path of both storms are safe. Hannah may make it up to us later in the week.
I am in Virginia. Today is Lindsay's 10th birthday but she had her "friends" party yesterday. There were 7 girls, the first part of the part was at a place called Libby Lu's. Each girl had a make-over with fancy curls and tons of glitter. Then we went back to their house for cake, pizza, gifts and giggles.
I haven't had time to read all the news - enough to know Debbie is safe and Susan had a WOW walk acrosss the Dam Bridge.
Take care - I'll check back eventually.
Love and prayers to all
Annette
Good Morning to all of my new friends!
I agree, it is nice to know that everyone is safe in anticipation of the storms brewing. I hope that things continue to stay that way.
I can hardly believe it is already September! Man, the summers sure do fly by the older I get. I bought my beach pass this season and I don't think I had the chance to go enough to make even on the cost of it. For me, that is unheard of!!!
My DH has been on vacation all week and home with me. Tomorrow he goes back to work and my son heads back to school after his 3 day weekend. I am ready to get back into my REAL schedule. It has been sort of wingy all summer long. Funny how in the spring I am ready to get out of the schedule, and in the fall, ready to get back in.
Today our plan is to go to the local Renaissance Festival. Should be a nice day for it. It definitely has that fall-ish feel here. We've had the A/C off for over 3 weeks. Mornings here have been cool and breezy, and the sky has been that beautiful clear blue with only the smallest white puffy clouds. I LOVE this time of year! We have already been to the apple orchard and purchased early Macoun apples. They are our favorites!
Getting a little antsy, as my pre-op tests and diet start on Fri. I am soo ready to get on with it. I have been feeling pretty emotional over the past week. Seems like most anything will bring a tear to my eye. Not overly unusual, but I think being on the brink of something so life changing could have a little something to do with that. I am journaling and trying to get thru it by being in the moment.
Hope you have a great day! I'm off to start the coffee pot.

Good morning and Happy Labor Day to everybody. I can actually post in the morning time today.
I haven't posted much because by the time I get on here to read, the day is almost over.
Don't know what my plans are for today. 30 years ago I was in LABOR with my youngest daughter. She asks me if I feel old. Somedays I do mentally when I remember my girls are 33 and 30. Yikes! Where did the time go!
Husband is looking for a different truck. I know a few dealers are open today. Not sure if the one he wants to go to is or not.
I was stupid Saturday night and ate an ice cream cone coated with chocolate. Boy, did I feel terrible. Guess that taught me a lesson.
I am glad Debbie and her family is safe. That is so scary!
And I hope our other good friend is safe and out of harm. So far the news is good!
Well, better get going. Have a Great Day!
Mickey
Ooops, meant to post this here. Posted on the other Happy Labor day post but not correct topic.
My last "day off" till Thanksgiving Not counting weekends.
Going to the thrift store for 1/2 off sale. Probably will be a mob. Beth is going with me....BF is a jerk and my job has been to hang out with her this weekend and just be there to listen and give advice when asked. She is doing OK and I think is at the anger stage seeing he wasn't all that. I just hope she doesn't jump into another boyfriend thing. Why does it take us sooooo long to figure out we don't need someone else and that it will happen when it happens?
We usually go to a Symphony in the Park on Labor Day but the weather here is not too warm and wonder if we get to go. We have gone about 10 years in a row so hope we can. It is a tradition and we have a good time. Take a picnic and a book and just people watch and enjoy the music.
Hope our girls are all OK. Been thinking and praying for all.
Take Care,
Cheryl

I've cleaned the house this morning, and baked some fat free banana/date muffins.....they are made with ground
flax seed and I used whole wheat flour....I'll let you know how they turn out.
So far tracking my fat grams and keeping them around 30 gm. per day, I've managed to lose 3 lbs.....woo hoo. Looking back over my food journal I see that is most likely what contributed to my not losing like I should.....thank you Todd for getting me back on track!!!! Todd is the P.A. at my surgeon's office.
Floyd Cagle and his lovely wife Brenda came to visit yesterday afternoon.....we had a great time talking and I really enjoyed getting to meet them in person. They are just winding down their vacation.....talk about "on the go" people - whew!! They are a very friendly and gracious
couple, and they've done a fantastic job on their wt. loss.
My kitty, Fluffy, fell in love with Brenda's feet!!! LOL
I've a busy week coming up -- doing the three required
leader training teleconferences this week......Tues., Wed.,
and Saturday. Piano students came back Tuesday afternoon, Thursday is kickoff of our church Ladies Aid
season, and I'm on committee, so have to make an apple dessert (which I won't be able to eat!)....I didn't pick the recipe, someone else did, but that's ok. Thank goodness I only work two days - Wed. and Fri. mornings.
Well, it must be getting warm out, just heard the a/c kick on....we are to get up to 91 here today....then Wednesday it is to cool off nicely with highs in the 70's.....come on Fall ..... I just love it!
Thinking of all those in the gulf coast and hoping they are
safe and secure...and others on our board, you are in my
thoughts and prayers.
