WhooHoo WOW moment
Hi Everybody,
I'm not sure if this is a WLS wow or a repaired ankle wow, but it's a big one in my book either way.
Gary told me last night that he wanted to take me somewhere I'd been wanting to go for a long time. "What should I wear", I asked. "Outdoor clothes"
"Tennies or sandals?" "Tennies"
"Do I need to worry about makeup/hair?" " No, people will see you but it won't matter"
Hmmmm. Very curious. So, I got up this morning and had my latte. Gary goes and gets dressed in shorts, a scrub shirt and tennis shoes. I took his lead, dressed the same way and out to the car we go. He had his binoculars and camera. Still no clue.
Down the road we went, over the AR river to a park on the other side. This is where there is a dam and a hydorelectric plant. About 3 years ago they built a bridge from North Little Rock, across the river to Little Rock. It's only for pedestrians and bikes and it's 1.6 miles across and back. Oh yeah, it's called The Big Dam Bridge, 'cause it's over the dam.
Anyway, I've always wanted to walk over it, but when we moved here I was so heavy I couldn't even THINK about walking that far, much less being able to handle the incline on both sides. Then, after I lost weight I could do it, but had all those troubles with my ankle. Dr Quack said I'd never be able to do anything like that.
Well, girls, I did. Not only did I walk it both ways, I didn't even break a sweat or get out of breath. The ankle held up with no problems, and Gary, bless his heart, knew it was just what I needed to give me a big boost of self confidence.
Guess I don't have any excuses left for not getting out and excersing, now do I?

Just posted and it doesn't show up so I'll try again! Susan, I'm sure this must be what is called a "DOUBLE WOW!!" It sure sounds like one to me. Maybe a triple cause I'd like to give Gary some bonus points for this one! What a wonderful way to spend the last morning of August. Are the leaves starting to turn back there yet? I can feel fall in the air here this morning which is really unusual. Fall is beautiful but I dread the short, cold days of winter. I need to remind myself to stay in the moment!

I know, I'm supposed to be logging off so we can disconnect the computer, but I couldn't resist sharing a sista's WOW. No matter what kind of WOW it is, I'm very happy for you! HAHA The Big Dam Bridge - well hopefully in a couple of hours I'll be crossing one of those too - the 25 mile bridge across the lake! Only mine is a different DAM!

Hello my sweet Karen,
I'm sure if this had happened to my ankle and I had not had WLS my outcome would have been much, much different. This certainly has been a blessing in so many ways.
How are you doing with your calorie intake? Getting more into the swing of things? Tired of eating yet??? I know I am.....but I'm coming to terms with it more every day.
Take care!

Congratulations Susan on your latest triumph!!
Your husband Gary is "a keeper". It sounds as tho he is really tuned in to you. Gold medal for his caring and support. He'll probably be planning more for you two to conquer.
Not feeling short of breath must feel sooo good.
Thanks for sharing,
