Can't sleep. We're house sitting for a friend who is gone for the weekend. Just got home yesterday afternoon from Erin's and want to be in my own bed in my little apartment. A lovely home and our friends thought they were giving us a break from the apartment so it would have been hard to say no. They even left a nice roast ready to cook with all the fixings. Tomorrow I'll be back home. I'm putting the coffee on. Thinking of Jean B and Debbie S. . . . Y'all stop by. I'll be back in a few minutes.

Hi Karen and all,

This OH board is weird today! First I get up, no What's new, I post, then see Brenda did. So, I delete mine then see Brenda's and another person have both started What's New, then go to post on one and then they are both gone, then go and see yours! Then every now and then when I hit OFF I see Brenda's so I am going to post here as I can't figure out which one is here and which is not! Confusing? YEP!

First, going to church today and will offer prayers up at our prayer time  for Debbie, Jean and all in the Hurricane's path.

I think I will ramble a bit. I am up earlier than usual as I have a headache. Don't know why but could be related to the day we had here yesterday. Sounds like nothing compared to so many others, but I will share just to vent and talk about stuff that will make me feel thankful that this is all that is going wrong here making me thankful that my little troubles are tiny compared to some of our OFF family.

Beth has had a long distance BF for awhile, who has been in boot camp down in Texas. We thought he was nice enough....I did have some stirrings that he may be  a bit controlling but thought well, maybe he is just so far from home and having hard time....Well, he was supposed to be coming home yesterday and Beth was meeting him at the airport, got her nails done, new outfit etc. etc....very excited, suppose to spend the weekend with big celebration with him, his family, friends. She had been talking by cell, texting and all that they do these days all day Friday, all good right? Wrong, at about 10pm, Friday night about 12 hours before she is to meet him,  he tells her he doesn't want her to meet him at airport and not sure he wants to see her at all! So yesterday had broken hearted young lady ticking off the hours hoping he would call...he didn't...I told her if he did to say "Bye Bye YOUR DONE!" I know this sounds so trivial, but damn! Hate standing by why our kids go through these things!

Then our bathroom sink is leaking and Tom spends the WHOLE day unsuccessfully trying to fix it. The kitchen ceiling now has nice stain and you can see where water is pocketed. Hopefully, he can finish today.

See, my troubles are boring...but I am in a talkative mood...maybe nervous for our friends...

Karen, what a nice friend, I can relate to wanting to be in your own little home though, Tom and I were ready for home at the end of our vacation. Let me look at the 20th....I think that is the day we take Beth to college, but it won't be ALL day, so when Tom and Beth are both in the mind set not worrying about heartbreak and leaking sink, I will see what the plan is...Gotta see you, girl!

I am listening to CNN and hearing about the storm and worrying worrying about our Debbie girl.

Hoping Jean is safe and sound too.

Brenda, your post disappeared before I could read it but hope your morning is going well...

I should shut up now...
Take Care all,
Cheryl

I understand what you are talking about, Cheryl. I know that I had a terrible time getting it on the board so I guess once it got there it didn't want to stay. I have had so much problem with this site this morning.

Fuuny, Brenda! Your post shows up on the main OFF page and then when I press reply there is just a blank spot there. . . . And it says you posted on "Dec 31, 1969 at 4pm Pacific time!" What the heck is going on?  Oh well, gives us something not too serious to fret about. I'm going back to post under the general topic!

We could do an afternoon porch sit also.  We'll figure something out in the next few weeks. Is Bergen's open on Sunday? I could also do a Sunday trip. . . . I love Spokane when the leaves are starting to turn. Let's just make sure it is porch weather whenever we get around to it!

This site is driving me nuts! Think I will try to go back to sleep for a little bit....
Everytime I click on OFF I get a different thing sometimes posts are there sometimes not! Weird.

Good morning everyone. I hope that today is good for you! I am so worried about both our sisters~Debbie and Jean. I am keeping them in prayers and I know that God will take care of them. I just wish that we would hear something from them both. In God's time I guess.

I was so busy yesterday but had so much fun. I went to a birthday party for Bill's cousins grandson. He turned 7 and those kids were having so much fun when we got there at noon and when we left at 5:30 they were still going stong. lol Oh to have the energy of those kids. Heather rented a moonwalk and I got in it and was jumping around. I must be back in my second childhood. lol I had so much fun and then Bill got in and we held hands and jumped until I fell on my stomach. He was up there and I asked him to please not fall on me. The kids heard that and then they said that they would jump on me and I said oh no please!!! I am not sure that the doctor would want me to be doing that with all my back problems but what is a girl to do? Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I will tell everyone though that the moonwalk is more fun than the slide. At least for old ladies. lol You have less work getting in and then the fun lasts as long as you want it to. On the slide it takes a few seconds and the fun is done. The food was good too. Migel, the kids dad has a dream of being a chef and he could do it too. He made the most wonderful shish ka bobs I have ever ate. OMG they were so good. One was made with chicken and seasonings with pineapple chunks and the other was made with seasoned chicken with red, green and yellow peppers and onions. I am so going to make some of them. I liked the ones with the peppers best and Bill liked the ones with the pineapple. All you do is chunck the chiken and marinated them in the either jerk seasoning or fajita seasoning all night. The ones with the jerk seasoning is the ones with the pineapple and the fajita ones are the ones with the peppers and onions. They you skewer them and grill. OMG I want some now! My mouth is watering. I wish that he would go out on a limb and do something to get him started in the cooking. He has wonderful ideas.

I got to the hospital yesterday morning to see Milly. She is looking much better than she was on Wednesday. I talked to her dgd and her husband. I told her about seeing her and how I told the QMA and she told me that if I ever see it again to just call her dad. I told her that I will do that. Milly is still a bit confused but that goes with the strokes. Bless her heart. She is such a darling. I have known her about my whole life. I first have memories of her at about 5 years old. She lived down the alley from my grandparents and next door to my aunt and uncle. Her sons are sure different though. One is just into nothing but himself and the other one isn't far from the same. lol At least Milly is being taken care of. That is the important thing.

Today is the baby shower for my cousin's granddaughter. She is up from North Dakota for it. She brought the baby too I  believe. I was going to get her a gift certificate but I saw a couple of beatiful dresses for the cooler weather and I had to get them. I figured that they could lay flat in the luggage but I am going to tell her that I could mail them to her if she wants me to. That wounldn't be a problem. I am looking forward to the shower but I will tell you I am so tired. I hope that I don't fall asleep during the thing. lol I could picture it now~snoring lady sitting at the 2nd table. Pictures at 10 on the channel 2 news. Oh look! She slobbers too! lol

Bill left for his fishing today at 5:30. I have heard from him so far only one time. Usually he is calling me a few times. I told him to have a good time and I thought that I might lay back down but oh no! I couldn't do that. Now I only hope that I don't fall asleep during church. lol

Oh~yesterday I found out that Bill's cousin and fishing buddy is going to be a grandpa on March 14th and here is Bill going to be one on April 14th. I found that to be kind of funny. Bill and Roger has always been close and so now their grandbabies are going to be born so close together. It is funny how things work out during our lives don't they? Just thought that I would share that bit of information. Don't know why but I did. lol

I better get going. I got to get my shower and get ready for church. I am hungry too so I am going to eat breakfast for sure before I go! I am sending love and big hugs to all and prayers are going up too. Special ones are being said for those in need of them.

This site is totally nuts today. It is there and then it's gone. I post and then I go back to the message board and it isn't there. Then it is and I didn't get the post then I refresh and it is alright. I am giving up for now and getting ready for church. Maybe the shower will give me a bit of sanity~the sanity that I have lost on here this morning. Of course, we all know that I didn't have much to lose in the first place. But then again if that is the case I need all that I can get!

Have a good one today all!

I'm back. Had Mike up too. I'm drinking coffee and watching a beautiful sunrise from our friend's home perched on a hill above the Yakima River. The city lights are still sparkling, but the sun is coming soon. This home was built just 3 years ago so I led Mike around looking at trim, door handles, kitchen knobs, mirrors in the bathrooms, countertops. . . He finally rolled his eyes and said "Enough, I'm going back to bed!"  Maggie even followed him jumping to be lifted on the bed. I guess they just aren't that into it this early in the am.

Cheryl, Erin had a major broken heart her senior year in college. Up to that time she had always been the "line up a new one, dump the old one and move on girl".  Not quite that bad, but definitely didn't wear her heart on her sleeve. Well, in Seattle when she was there working the summer after her freshman year she fell hard. She had a job doing of all things, asphalt roofing repair for Boeing. She was one of 3 young women on the crew with lots of young men.  When she cleaned up and went to a weekend gathering Matt looked her over deciding that she cleaned up real good! During the day they wore disposal coveralls, safety glasses, hardhats. . . So for 2  yrs they kept up a long distance relationship while she attended school in  Pullman and he in Seattle.

One night she called sobbing. .  The phone call that started as just a phone call turned in to a breakup call from him.  She was absolutely devastated. Couldn't eat or sleep for weeks. As a matter of fact she didn't even "like" guys for a couple of years. Just played it aloof and safe. Then Josh came along. Josh's best friend and one of Erin's friends fell in love. At their wedding Josh was best man and Erin was a bridesmaid and the rest is history.

So tho it's hard for Beth to see right now, the best is yet to come. The guy sounds like a "toad." You know the saying "You have to kiss a lot of toads to find a prince!"  Very true words. Mom, just give her lots of love and listen.  It's so hard on moms too isn't it?  She's a beautiful young woman who has lots of time. Mike and I were almost 23 when we married and a few more years wouldn't have hurt either one of us. I'd love to meet Beth.

This week I had my great niece Cora from Seattle with me helping at Erin's. She's 12 and loves babies and puppies. She was a great help! On Thursday her little sister, Ellis, age 7 arrived. She had a snit that she didn't get to come so we caved in and let her "help" until Saturday morning.  Oh lordy, I forgot about that "sibling" thing. They spent most of the time arguing and it got on my last nerve!  I drove Erin out 5 miles in the country so that she could run home. I was tempted to keep going!

Anyway to my story. Ellis, the 7 yr old was looking at Erin and Josh's wedding pics. When she came to the blank pages in the back of the album here's what she said (a sign of the thinking these days!) "There's room here for when she gets married again to put in more pictures!!! " Out of the mouth of babes! Sure hope not, but couldn't help but laugh!

Sure wish our children could learn from our life lessons and mistakes, but I don't know if that ever works. I sure wouldn't have listened to my mom. I was just sure that I knew more than she did. Funny, the older I got, the smarter she got!

Cheryl, we'll figure out a day and time the next few weeks that will work out perfect for both of us.

Brenda, I don't know what is going on with the board this morning, but hope you have a good one. I'm going to take my coffee out on the deck to enjoy the sunrise. I'll stop back by later.

To all the rest of my friends on OFF hope you have a nice day and stay out of harm's way.
