Is there anyone out there 60 or older. I am 60 and am concerned about recovery. I have to wait 6 months before my insurance approves me so I have a lot of time to think I am bouncing back and forth about if I can do this. I read all the profiles and I can't believe the courage that people find to do this. I hope to dig deep down in myself and find that same courage to have this surgery. Any encouragement is so welcome. Sincerely, Nancy

I'm not 60-yet but I am 51 and had ly lapband done in Jan.  I now feel 10 yrs younger and 50 lbs lighter and its the best thing I have done for myself in a long time.  My recovery wasn't as fast as some but I didn't have any major complications.  Just a lot of nausea and vomiting the first day and it took me about a week to get my strength back.  So it was a little longer than some of the younger ones but thats fine with me.  But don't let your age stop you-you will feel so much better in the long run.  Hope this helps.

I had lapband surgery in March and it was so easy!  I had no problems at all.  I'm so glad I did it!!!

Nancy, welcome!  This is the best place for support and a dose of courage.  I know we have some in their 60s here.  I'm 56, had RNY at 52.  Wishing you the best, Debbie

Hello, You are right about all the support on this site. Maybe I should be looking at this as somebody as 60 years young instead of 60 years old. Thanks again, Nancy

I am 62. The question is, do you have the courage to live the rest of your life healthier than you are now?

You can do it.....what co-morbidities do you have?

Hi, Thanks for writing. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, a bad back, bad ankles, sleep apena, and high cholestrol. How was your recovery? I am going to have this surgery if everything is approved. I just a little scared. I have spent all my life overweight and I just wish I had done this ten years ago when my PCP had first suggested it. Nancy
