What's New Thursday?

Morning family,

Gary's just out the door to work and I've decided I'm going to mow the lawn before it gets too hot.  He's been a bit under the weather and probably wouldn't feel like doing it until the weekend, but we might have rain by then, so I'm giving it a go myself.

I've been reading a lot of the posts and I'm so worried about so many of you!  Jeannie B...please, please be safe.  Debbie in NO...watch out...duck and cover, girl!  We can't have you washed away. Connie, prayers as always for you and your family, but even more so now that Nic is going another round with the Beast.  Annette, my buddy, hope you find someone better suited to your needs than your psych!  I've done hypnosis in the past and so has my son. It's an amazing thing the mind can do....I'd say give it  a try, what the heck?

Okay, here I go to get some exercise. The mower weighs about as much as I do, so this ought to be interesting

Love ya!

Susan

One of the best things about living in a condo is no mowing ... couldn't do it anyway with my allergies and my knees and back; even when they mow here, I have to close the windows otherwise allergies kick up a storm (yesterday I had the windows open and they were mowing early in the morning and I was miserable all day, hacking away ... today, with the windows shut, I'm much better ... but it's hot and humid today.)

I love the smell of freshly mown grass.  Thank goodness I'm not allergic!  I really pushed the Achilles today mowing, hopefully I'm still proving that doctor wrong who said I'd never be able to do anything like this again.

Of course, we'll see if I'm able to get out of bed in the a.m.!!  LOL

Thank you for starting the thread Eileen. Your 'poetry' brough a smile o my face. Good going.

I had the pleasure of talking to Darlene last night. It is always nice to to actually hear the voice of a Sister. Thanks for the call.

There is a ruckus going on in the living room. I can hear the noise from my bedroom.

Yesterday I bought a small barbecue smoker and decided to put it together myself. My assembly skills are very lacking but still, I gave it a try. All parts were going together very well until it was the point of screwing in the last leg. One miserable bolt was missing from the packaging.

Tom must have a gazillion bolt and screws in the basement but not one was the same size.

So, I jammed most of it back in the box until we can get the correct part or return the whole mess.

Anyway - the FURBRATS are in the box and having a blast. I don't even want to go look.

Nope - not Annie for once. She is on my lap, on her back, getting a belly rub. Momma's black haired, blue eyed furAngel for a change.

Can you hear me now????? Can you hear me now???? I'm yelling.......you should be able to hear me.....

Yep, I tried calling a few  people, but numbers have changed or they are not listed on the directory or their phones go direct to voice mail.....cough cough (Margo)

Annette:

My cats love when I get a package in the mail/UPS, etc. ... it's like Christmas! They love playing in the boxes. I used to leave one under the table for them to play "house" in ... then, when I had my knee surgery, my brother cleaned house and threw it in the garage. When I got home, I asked him where the cats' "house" was ... he didn't know what I meant ... I had to explain. "Oh," he said, "I threw out it because you needed room to move around with your walker. And it was messy." And now the cleaning lady would surely throw it out, so no more boxes for the cats to play in on a regular basis ... although sometimes they have one or two until the cleaning lady comes.

All three of my kitties were at the door this afternoon when I came home with groceries, sniffing and pawing through the bags ... nope, no cat food, no cat treats ... but boy, did they love the smell of that rotisserie chicken! Diva was all over me for that! She shared lunch with me ... she knows I can't finish all my lunch. She was purring up a storm, rubbing against me. Can't resist her, and she knows it. Just like your little Annie.

Eileen,

I can picture the grocery bag scene. Cats winding through the bags and around your legs. They sure give us pleasure "most" of the time.

Good Morning Eileen and all,

Only 5 days left of my vacation including weekend and holiday. Then I am not eligible for any more till March! Only days off are Christmas Day and Thanksgiving till then. One of the down parts of my new job. I was only able to get this vacation as it was part of the deal they agreed to when I accepted the job...so I am lucky I got it. In March I will have only 3 days as they will substract the days I took this time. Oh, well. Not a huge deal in the scheme of things and compared to others problems. Just whinning a bit here.

Taking Beth to the dentist as she will be off to college and they had a cancelation today. Then she and I will do a girls day thing, maybe a movie. We planned on Traveling Pants II but someone on here said it was disappointing...so not sure.

Hoping Debbie and Jean are OK.

See you later,
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl:

Your vacation sounded amazing ... I have been to the San Juan islands and they are fun, as is Seattle. Loved that area, Mt. Rainier, etc. I went there with my friend Roxane many years ago and took the ferry over to  San Juan Island, then over to Victoria, stayed at a B&B; we really enjoyed it. That's the year my Ford Escort lemon had its belt fall off on a Friday night coming back from Anacortes and the guy we stopped at who had every belt imaginable didn't have one for an Escort because Ford makes a special serpentine belt that you can only buy from Ford; Ford wouldn't open its parts department on a weekend to let him buy one. He wound up jerryrigging something that would fit on my car and got me on the road so I could get back to Anaconda, Mt., where I lived back then. That belt lasted another three months before I could get an Escort belt from Ford ... what a genius that guy was! I will never forget him ... don't remember his name or where he was, but he was wonderful ... rented Rox and I a car for $15 plus gas so I could get Rox back to the Seattle airport and on her way back to Chicago, then I went to the hotel and slept, came back to his shop somewhere on the road from Anacortes to Seattle ... he was amazing!

Have you and your daughter seen Mamma Mia? I really enjoyed that! But you have to like ABBA ... those who don't won't like it.

Good morning Eileen and Friends!

Eileen, hope your knee feels better and you got some rest.

Not to worry OFF family, we're fine and ready for whatever comes our way.  As I responded to Darlene, all supplies are in order, prescriptions, car tanks filled... Right now I'm working on updating our neighborhood emergency list of contact numbers, something one of my neighbors and I compiled after Katrina so we'd know everyone was safe.  I'll keep y'all posted.

Love all y'all!
Debbie
